Any experience with dashcams?

I'm looking to buy a dashcam for my car. After seeing many insurance scam attempt videos on YouTube and having a close encounter with a bus that tried driving into the side of my car, I think it'd be a couple hundred bucks well spent for piece of mind.

Anybody have experience using these, or advice in which to buy? I've been searching for something as inconspicuous as possible to see, especially from the outside. I'm slightly worried about smash and grabs.

i'm considering one.
I'm currently in the process of getting screwed with the blame on an accident where the guy in the centre lane, cut me off (curb lane) and slammed on the brakes to make the turn on the side street.

my friend has this one and reccomends it. he has had to use it to assign blame in traffic accidents.

My old man got one from a work buddy. It's a Chinese branded one, I couldn't tell you the exact name but it's something ludicrous like Supervision DashCam 8039593 XL. Anyways even though the name was laughable it works well, my main problem is the install is tough to make clean, I like it to look fully OE. It had an SD Card which he upgraded to 32 GB and loops. Just a suction cup and cigarette adapter like a GPS. Even a little screen so you can reply the footage in your car.

Ideally I'd like one that fits in the grille somewhere. Anyone heard of something like that? It'd have to be weather resistant where I'm at.

I just ordered one of these.

I'll post back in a couple weeks to let you know how well it works.
One feature I wanted is the parking mode. I travel a lot and have to park outside when away from home, so this could add a bit of security.
I also figure I can use it in my race car as well, as it's much smaller and lighter than what I use now.

I have this one. Wasn't happy with any of them I saw, so settled on this one. Always have to remember to plug it in the power point in console, and unplug it when done.

I wish someone made just the camera - not the mirror in camera stuff, without extras. I already have NAV, bluetooth, etc.

I little camera I could stick to the back of the original rearview mirror and a long enough power cord so I could tap into a key on/off power lead and I'd be content.

I just watched a video on YT about Blackvue, sounds like they originated from Korea because Korea has the highest rate of pedestrians being killed by motorists in the world [paranoid]

I recently bought a DR32 Dashcam a few weeks back and I must say the quality is great. My only problem right now is that the 12V plugs stay off even after the car is off and the USB ports appear to not provide enough power to keep the internal battery up enough to properly shut down.

I have also yet to have the courage to use the 3M stick on mount on my window tint.

That is a sample video I did of a idiot on a motorcycle in a 45. The EV was set to +1 which kind of washed out the sky. I have yet to look at the footage I took at EV -2. I also had audio turned off. Youtube kind of butchered the quality too. If you lookup DR32 you can find a ton of sample videos.

My eventual planes are to have a battery backup pack plus a low voltage disconnect hooked up to a front and rear camera so it will continue to record even after the engine is shut off and will run on the battery backup once the car reaches 11.8V.

Looks like a knockoff but really for $25 can you really go wrong? What stands out to me with your link is the fact that one doesn't do 720p video. Ill find the link as to how to identify a knockoff. I read somewhere that the only two trusted sellers were estore009 on eBay and aliexpress - odd with both being shipped direct from Asia.

I'd like a dash cam, but don't think I'd want wires hanging down from my windshield to my 12V plug. The Blackvue seems to look the most discrete where as some of the others such as the DVR-027 look like a radar detector and invites a break in to a thief. Anyone find a good way to mount and hardwire one of the Blackvues?
