Hello everyone. I'm a new member and i hope I posted this in the right area.
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I Bought a used 2005 ford Focus 4 door hatch back with the 4 cylinder 2.0.
the AC will not turn on. I was thinking it was the pressure switch since the Freon was at a very low level. can anybody tell me where this switch is located and how to check? maybe some picture of the location.

so the green light on the ac button does not light up when you press the ac button. The Re circulation button for max ac does light up and work.

I checked all the fuses and relays they check out.....I swapped them around.

I also jumped the ac clutch relay fuse with a paper clip and verified the ac clutch would engage and work. with the paper clip in I was able to add some r135 and it started blowing cold air. I assume this tells me my compressor is good and clutch is good? I put everything back together thinking now that i had the Freon in it , it should. no luck.

without the paper clip the ac clutch will not engage.

so I'm wondering is my button the problem? I'm at a loss for where to try next.

does the ac pressure switch keep the ac button from working?

any help would be great!

thank you in advance

No it doesn’t. But my wife was messing around with the dial and found out the ac clutch will kick on and off when it on setting one. With setting one light will come and stay on. But clutch will kick off and on. All other speeds turn off the ac light and clutch will not engage but the blower will work on all settings
Yes sorry about that. The tribulations of dealing with an aging mind. I misremembered the switch setting - as you discovered I should have asked if it worked in LO (setting one).

Are you certain the blower operates in four distinct speeds?

Well I was able to locate the part at Napa auto parts. I put the new part in and now the ac button is working! The ac clutch still wouldn’t spin. In high mode. I had to jump the relay with paper clip so the clutch would spin. then I addedrefrigerant to the green level. Took paper clip out of the relay and shut car off. Put relay back on and restarted car. Turned ac on high again and clutche kicked in. Nice cold air. I guess we will see how long it lasts but didn’t notice any leaks or oil residue.

thanks for the insight!
