AEM CAI to FC TB question

Hey everyone I bought a FC TB the other day and went to install it fri. Well I have a AEM CAI and when I went to connect the two I learned that the CAI would not fit on to the TB with the hose coupler or whatever you call it that came with the CAI. So I went to a local parts store and got a hose that will "work" but it took some rigging. My question to all of you out there with this same setup is; is there anywhere I can get a "custom" coupler that will fit my intake and my TB??? What did all of you have to do to get it to work?? One other question is when installing the TB should I have put a thin layer of silicone between the TB and the intake manifold for a good seal??? Thanks as always for everyones time and input.

You couldn't stretch it over the new TB? Maybe install the coupler off the car, put on TB, then hook CAI to the coupler.

I thought the FC TB wasn't that much bigger then the stock.

You might also try heating up the rubber to make it more plyable. Hot water would be a good way to do that...

I have another question I forgot to mention earlier.......ever since I have installed my tb I have noticed a little bit of stuttering at low rpm (1800-2200 give or take) off the line and when I am cruising around town in a higher gear what could this be cuased from??? What can I do to fix it

Even with the Steeda adapter it is a tight fit. This is how I did mine. Put the rubber adapter around an empty soup can half filled w/water. Heat it up in a pan of water on stove until you can barely touch it. Adapter gets soft and pliable and slips on the oversize throttle body. Hold in place and clamp. I did mine off the car and was a lot easier. You can also turn the end inside out before slipping it on. Was surprised how easy it was with a little heat.

^^^I have been seeing those Plasma Boosters in a lot of peoples sig what is that they do exactly?
Waste your money...

In your above question you asked about a silicon seal between the TB and the manifold, did you re-use the TB gasket from your stock TB?? You should, if you didn't thats probably why you are getting surging.

It actually is quite a bit bigger. The factory one is 66mm, but that is the measurement of the outside diameter of the TB. The FS 65mm is measured from the inside diameter, where it really counts, the outside diameter of the 65mm is something like 83 or 84 or so, so its quite a bit larger, which is why using the AEM boot is a pain. What i did was w/ the TB off, i used a heat gun and stretched the boot over the TB, clamped it down nice and tight, installed it, then just reconnected to my CAI and was done.

rfinger I recommend a vibrant performance silicone couplers, I replaced both on my AEM CAI because the rubber one that came was crappy and the top one did not fit the FC TB. The measurements for the couplers are 2 and 3/4in to a 3in.
