I second the vote for the hood risers. You could also get a new front bumper, the risers are more a JDM thing though. It would be cheaper, but not really needed unless you've got a lot of mods that are making the engine work harder or hotter (turbo, Nitrious, supercharger, or an after-market race header)

I would only cut vents or buy a new vented hood for show only. Especially if you are stock.

I would get the cold air intake or the Short ram air intake and don't worry about venting the engine compartment.

You could run a 180 deg. thermostat and make sure to flush out your cooling system and refill with name brand stuff. Keeping up on maintainance will help the motor run cooler and better too.

Yeh I took of the resonator. But dang so I can't do that stealth CAI with my Zetec? Can't I shorten it somehow and throw on a cone filter right after the MAF and get rid of the airbox? Or it looks like I'll just have to go out and buy a ram air intake then. Alrighty thanks guys.

The majority off all CAI's and short ram intakes use the same piping in a sense, the filter is what really makes the difference. Thats how i've always looked at it. Buy some decent cheap pipe off of ebay and just buy a good cone filter from a local store or on ebay somewhere, would probably be quite cheaper than buying a name brand kit

This reminds me of a post I saw here from another forum of the dude with the corvette who wanted to have his exhaust run straight back in to his intake. I think he felt like it would do the same as a turbo.

Haha alright man, I'm not that technically uninformed. I just had a couple questions about my focus. [cool]

Alright BrandNe thnx for the advice about the filter, that's what I'm gonna end up doing, just taking out the airbox and getting a cone filter and a small pipe. I'm to poor to afford anything else right now.

Oh, and whats the diameter of the stock Zetec intakes/ MAF housing?

3.25".... and you can stick the filter right on the end but i would highly recommed doing somthing with the breather like putting one of those little filters in its place. when i did it i also left the bottem half of the airbox in with the snorkel still going to the front... not saying that it made any differece but when i did it i was thinking that while driving down the road the snorkle would naturally funnel some air to the filter. logically it makes sense but couldnt possibly make a difference.

cheapest i found was 8.99... as for the air filter, order one from summit. much cheaper than what other places were askin. i got a K&N for 35ish and all the other places wanted 60+

might as well wait until you have some money, its kinda pointless to do anything silly to the car in the meantime, you will just be changing it to the new part you want to buy. Theres no need to find some weird way to get cool air, just wait till ya get some money and do it right.....
