HAS anyone tried run 1/4mile after upgrading to a higher gear ratio? Is it worth it? because it ends up to be a $500 cause installations is really expensive for it.

I don't know too much about them, but i do know that on 350 tpi camaros you can shave off .75 second by upgrading to a higher ratio.

I'm really interested in results, so if you have one installed, please share.
thanks

Personally, I don't have them installed......Yet. I think they are worth it. They should make you around .3 quicker in the quarter.

If only someone who has it confirmed it!!!!!

I would be happy and probably finally started modding focus.
My thing is - I want to reach low 15 high 14s with NA focus In $2000 price limit.

If you NEVER plan to go FI it is a good thing to do for playing on the track

Why is it bad if you go FI? The gears too short?

if your going to pay a grease monkey to rip apart your tranny, you might as well wait until you can afford to upgrade some more stuff such as clutch, flywheel, differential, and of course (trying to stay on subject) the gears. a buddy of mine had just the gears installed and they got him for around 600 just for the install. he says its a good mod and he can feel the difference in acceleration but its cost was too high for what it did.

yeah.....FI it would be better if you stayed w/your stock ratio.......but if you just plan to run all motor then I would stay w/the 4.06

but also, to save labor time, just like the others said, it would be wise to put in a lsd, new clutch, and a flywheel and u'll be a happy camper : )

Marcy sells a 3.41 gearset...but I'd think 3.41 would be better suited for aggressive FI.

I had the 4.06 gears installed along with a CM stage 4, aluminum flywheel and a Quaife differential. The car is a completely different animal with the shorter gears, it gets up and goes a lot faster. I haven't noticed much of a drop in gas mileage, if anything it varies more when I'm flogging on the gas.

I recall Tom having said in another thread that if you plan on going above 250 WHP that the gearing would be too short...I'm sure the stock ratio would be better for a mild to aggressive FI car.

And like everyone is saying...wait until you can have all four done at once...that's what I did, and I only had to pay once for the transmission to come out, and Tom only charged me for the gear and differential install (the clutch and flywheel were put in for the cost of the parts.)

thats cool, i believe cfm have 4.06 gears in there supercharged 12 second vortech, its just because of the insane torque that come with turbos where your gonna be mesed up with all the shifting involved with a turbo+4.06 gears
