Anyone know when an actual date of when the 2012 will show up at dealerships? My lease on my existing focus is up at the end of the month and don't really want to extend the lease. I've order a 2012 but after three weeks the dealer still has no build date. I'm getting frustrated and feel like I may cancel my order and just do a dealer locate for the car with the options I'm looking for!

typically the new model year starts production around end of june beginning of july, and not dealer lots around aug or sept. While this may not be true for the new 2012 focus, it would be a pretty good bet that you wont see any on dealer lots till at least mid year if not around fall.

my dealer says they get theirs 3 may 2011, so i suspect them to hit lots mid-late april; early may

I'll add my $0.02. I ordered a 2012 Titanium hatchback today. They told me that I could expect a 10-12 week delivery, but they also told me that when the Fiesta (the current model) was a new model, they had anticipated an April delivery for the first cars, but they didn't show until July. However, that was due in part to the factory being in Mexico, and some significant weather issues contributing to the delay. I think it's pretty much a crap-shoot.

Production of the 2012 Focus started at the beginning of December in Europe, but only began in January here. So, if they are expecting the Focus to be at dealership in Europe in March, we should expect to see ours sometime in April.
This works perfectly for me since I ordered mine with the 18" summer tires and I am in Ontario....the snow must be gone!

First quarter of this year. I ordered mine the first day they were available for pre-order which was back in November I guess. My dealer told me build date is sometime this month (feb) with delivery sometime in March-April. It was obvious he was clueless however.

I just got some information from my dealer. He said that all the customer ordered vehicles should be delivered mid- to late-April. He said Ford, for brand new vehicles, orders random stock units for every dealer automatically. For the Focus, Ford decided to build some stock units first and then build the ordered-by-customer units second. At this point they have finished with stock units and are now starting to build the ordered-by-customer units. Apparently the dealer could have ordered a car for an individual as a "stock car" to get it sooner, but the price for a stock unit cannot not be guaranteed. Therefore, if you ordered a Focus, and it was requested as an ordered-by-customer unit, you'll have to wait a little longer, but at least the price is guaranteed.

Would like to get it but really, not in a hurry. I'll see what the Ford Tec/Trainer has to say when I set in on the dealers training program on Tue this coming week and get to see a 2012 in person.

I am in a bit of a quandry, regarding my ordered vehicle. I took advantage of the $500 'tech rebate' by ordering before the end of February. Now that it's looking like delivery is going to possibly be March-April, I'm not sure what to do when the car comes in. I don't need the car until August, and honestly don't even WANT the car until then. I figured that since I could just 'say no' when the car arrives, it was no big deal to just order it. Now, however, with the delivery looming POTENTIALLY 4-5 months sooner than I'd hoped, I'd like to get some thoughts from you folks. What would you do? Other than calling me stupid, that is [bash] Would you just let the car go to dealer stock, wait for one to show up 'on the lot' when I'm really ready, and hope the price is going to be better or at least not worse than the deal I made (which was, in fact, no deal, sticker all the way, sorry to say). Sure, I may not get one with exactly the equipment I ordered, and/or the colors I wanted, but... I really don't need a car to start eating at its warranty when it's not even needed.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I went to a dealership on 2/28 and placed an order for $100 over invoice plus I'm getting the $500 rebate. So I'd say wait until you're ready. The Focus is a car with tons of competition. Locally I've got probably a dozen Ford dealers I could play against one another, and then there's similar cars from other manufacturers that you can tell the dealer you are considering. It should never be a problem to get more than $500 off sticker. And in June you should be able to place an order if you want to and get a good deal.

Ordering a car shouldn't cost you much more than picking one off the lot and frankly it should be less. A good dealership will recognize the fact that they will get that car in, prep it, deliver it, and be done with it. Therefore it costs them less than any car that sits around taking up inventory space and costing them interest.

Nice! Still waiting for real news down here in LA. Here's what I mean. Last week I got a call from a salesman saying that they were in! I was of course, very excited, and wasted no time asking him when I could come in and test drive the hatchback. He paused, then said something I had a hard time hearing without laughing, calling him insane, then hanging up. He said, "Hmm, well better go with the Mazda 3 if you want a hatchback, because Ford doesn't make one." Then I paused. For a good while, the responded, "Please recheck your company memo and your inventory when the hatchbacks arrive, then call me back."

So, just a friendly warning. Although salesmen work with cars and car companies, that doesn't necessarily mean they know anything.

On another note, I know I'm in a fortunate position being in LA. Within a 50 mile radius, I'd say I have anywhere from 5-8 certified Ford dealerships that I can work against one another. At this rate, I'm guessing that the best time to buy one of these things off of the lot would be either end of April or May, depending on when they actually show up. KeithLM, is completely right about buying at the end of the month. Dealerships and salesman have monthly figures that they try to reach, and the end of the month is when they'll be easiest to push around. Timing is everything!

By the way Pinkerton, with that education discount information, you saved me $500 on my new Focus, and for that I thank you! [cheers]

2012 Focus Titanium

I ordered a 2012 Focus Titanium sedan on 1/18, I got an email on the 19th of March stating my build date is the week of the 28th, and delivery is mid-to-late April. I called the dealership prior to receiving the e-mail, and they stated early-to-mid April.
Since Maryland isn't that horribly long of a transit, I'm hoping it comes soon- the anticipation is killing me.....[loveff]

We picked up our 2012 Focus Sedan on Friday just as it arrived at the dealership and showroom. It was the only one. I saw 2 previous 2012's at two other dealerships. So each dealership here in Colorado were getting only one per dealer. We didn't preorder ours but knew the General Manager really well who we went to see and inquire about the new Focus's a week earlier. So as his dealership got one in, he called us right away and even took it off the showroom floor to "hide" it for us before we got there so no one else could buy it. We arrived a couple hours later and fell in love with it and had to have it. Couple of hours later the deal was done and it was ours! The General Manager told us that his dealership will be getting more Focus's in the upcoming weeks. I'm waiting for a white SE Sedan or Hatch and we'll go buy that too!
