Heater core hoses

 

There is a drain hose or pipe outlet there too for a/c condensate (water), if coolant coming out the heater core is bad. Heater hose coupling there of course can leak as well.

Coolant only shows up inside car when the drain mentioned is clogged up.

 

The heater core has never been out and I'm wondering how that o-ring would just fail. It does have 245K miles.

Anything can fail on a 9+ year old car. Why are you mentioning the heater core vs starting by fixing the leak shown in your pic?

 

I wasn't sure if a heater core leak would leak from this location. I'm really hoping its the hose connection, but from what amc49 is saying, it could still leak from here and be the heater core. I'll be taking these hoses off when I get a chance and seeing if I can determine the cause.

 

FYI. It was the connector(s). I cut them off and slid the hoses on and clamped them. Those connectors can be a bitch to get off if you don't know how. Here is a pretty good video on how to get them off.

 

This fix the leak? I have the same problem and I couldn´t find the connector or the hose assambly. Thanks!

Yup. Heater hoses. I recommend doing the entire hoses and not just the o-ring.

 

I replaced my much earlier year model hoses with bulk heater hose in exactly the same way and been running fine for years, I change the hose every 75-100K miles to not ever have a fail that brings car down. I prefer not to use the OEM formed hoses as they are too expensive, I saved $100 switching 7 of 9 hoses to bulk hose instead of using the 'correct' parts.

 

Did cutting the heater hose coupler off an slide the hose on with old school clamp work

 

Yes, I have it done on two cars on 7 hoses each, that being 28 worm drive clamps. No problems.
