1 and 1/2 quarts low, is this a big deal?

I do all my own maintenance except Chang the oil. the oil change place left me a quart and 1/2 low wich I found two months later. I took it in and they topped it off and I kept my cool thinking it was not a big deal, but I'm wondering if there was any possible damage done.

Always check your oil following an oil change whether you did it yourself or not. For all you know it was topped off and you've burnt that much off since the oil change which would indicate a problem needing fixed.

Continue to monitor it, but essentially yes-running that low can and will cause problems over time.

Good advice^^^^. Is there any oil on the bottom of the car, any oil spots, pools where you park, an oily film on the rear hatch or bumper? It isn't recommended to drive with less than a full crankcase, but depending on how many miles were driven in those two months, and what type of driving it was, ie. short trips, highway commuting, high speed oval track, etc. it was likely not fatal to the motor. Good luck.

If your oil light never came on, and the engine is still running with no apparent issues then NO, no damage was done.
I am amazed you did not even bother to check the oil after getting it changed.
I have had places stick way too much in, but never that little. basically they really do not care much.
So I change my own oil. As much for doing it right, and cheaper, as anything else.

everything's clean on the bottom, good call though. it's just used for daily driving, ran mabey 1200 miles low. I didn't think (hoped) it wouldn't be a big deal but it was a little upsetting to know all the preventive maintenance and care I did over the years was possibly done for nothing...

As long as you didn't lose oil pressure from hard cornering during that time there's likely no damage done, and even that isn't instantly tragic.

Remember, oil pressure is low at every start - and worse at each oil change.

Wouldn't make a habit of it, but prev. good maint. wasn't for nothing.

Cheers!
