Here is the thread that I created for it. Thats why you didnt see anything in this thread about it..http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=520217

But if you don't read it. Car car has been shifting real funny for the past week or so I guess. It happens from about 50+ mph. the car shifts between 3 and 4 gears when it should just stay in 4th...

Like if I just keep the speed around 70 or so, it will go up to 4th gear like it should, but will then shift down to 3rd for 3-4 seconds then shift back up to 4th. It will do this the whole time I am on the highway. It causes about a 300 RPM jump. So will go from 2700 RPM in 4th gear and drop down to 3rd and go to 3000 RPM.

I don't know what the problem is but i really can't stand it. I reset the ECU, looked at the TB, it was fine. So now I am going to get it flushed and a new filter I guess...I am out of ideas on what to do.

My dad had this problem bad with his transmission on his Jeep. It's actually likely a sensor in the transmission that is doing this...at least that was with his...it wasn't cheap to fix though just to warn you.

What happened there? Old geezer you got it from blind?

Gotta respect all the hard work[clap][twothumbs][wrenchin]

FreeFocus' SPI Build and Mod Thread

Hmmmm...OK guys bear with me...

SO first thing I did like i said in the other thread was that I was going to replace the TPS in my car. First trip up, Advance Auto didnt have it...website said they did. So drove to O'Reillys and they had it BWD (I think) brand and that was $32.00. No big deal. Took about 30 minutes to put on because well, everything I do takes longer... 2 screws is all it was, it was just getting to them and having enough room to maneuver it around. Tried 3 different screwdrivers. Had the battery off, reset the ECU again...and then let idle for 5ish minutes. See how it goes tomorrow.

Second trip was made for this> Bought an adaptor for my SRI, to go from 3" to 2.5" to fit the TB. Before this I was just clamping it down as tight as I could, it was folding in itself. Save the rice chat for somewhere else. It is done now so maybe air was getting in there that wasn't measured and throwing everything off. I don't know for sure.

Now for the meat of the post, and how it relates to the pictures above. I am typing this on my computer so will post up some more pictures afterward..

Yes Nate you are right, the old geezer may have been possibly blind, I don't know...this all started with wondering why the headlights didnt sit correctly, so with nothing to do, lets go ahead and tear apart the front end. It was the first time I have ever taken a bumper off, it was all easy except for that last bolt on each side. MY GOD IS THAT DIFFICULT!!!!! Had to take a break and go eat supper.

So as you can see the crash bar/impact whatever the technical name for it is was SMASHED in. Thus causing everything on the passenger side to get sucked in and not in line with the driver side. Explaining why the passenger light didnt sit right and the hood is off a little.

There is no way to take off that crash foam/absorber as it seems to be riveted in to some degree, so I just carefully ripped it off. Some pictures could have been taken here...had other things on my mind...So we saw what we had to do, eventually put the foam back on, with some caulk/silicone and giant Zipties, almost as good as duct tape right[spank].

Was going to go to the pick yard tomorrow and get a new one but it is spot welded on and not bolted like we thought. There goes that plan. A new one is $150 plus labor to do it. That piece was smashed in almost an inch and a half, measured with a level resting on both sides.

Radiator is missing some supports and I need some screws for my headlights, so the pick yard is due for a visit tomorrow in the cold weather. And of course, putting it back together I had one extra bolt...hmm very interesting. Maybe after a couple more years I can get enough parts to make a whole other car.

Hood isn't lining up the way that i want now and I notice it now, i had to call it a night, I was getting to hot in the head and would just start beating on things, tomorrow is a new day[sleep]

All in all it was a good learning experience, taking off a bumper, replacing a TPS, which I couldn't do without you guys and this site! Thanks for dealing with me and all my questions[FFROCKS] Shoutout to dad as well for helping me where I needed it and ideas when I couldn't think of any

Pulled out the fender as well instead of having it pushed in like it was before.

Yeah those last bolts are a bitch to get off...

Yeah man! You aren't kidding! I spent the majority of the time getting those two off. Ended up making a contraption for the impact when putting the last one on to speed up the process. Didn't work that well. Would have been easier taking off the fender liner. Live and learn.

yea it's no fun removing the front bumper. My foam was also "carefully" removed and ziptied back in place. lol.
Everywhere I looked on here, that is what they said. Take it off and ziptie it on there. No one sees it and the bumper pretty much holds it. Problem solved[twothumbs]
