I'm positive about this negative [hihi]

James update on ISC?
Sir! Still waiting on reworked parts for the front (should take me an inch lower) and different springs for the rear (should allow for more adjustment on the car). No idea when I'll see them.
Since finding the sweet spot for the rear dampening I really like them. 10 clicks is not too soft and doesn't bounce. I've also noticed that in the warmer weather they're more compliant, like they need to get up to temperature to work their best. The car corners so flat, but I do try to avoid potholes.

Did you get your car back today?
I'll start by saying I'm pissed. I call them in the morning, they say afternoon. I call them at 12 they said 4. Let's remember they close at 5. They call me at 4 and they said I have to get it Monday. Last Monday, they said 4. Wow.

I'm currently driving a minivan [rofl] Hope I can make it home. TCM is fried. $2200 bucks. I feel that the tune overworked TCM and fried it along with a few wires. Damage is $2200 :(
You're saying a tune "overworked" a TCM?

Jose, I like you..... but the drunk me is saying [screwy][screwy][screwy][screwy][screwy][screwy][screwy][screwy][screwy][screwy]

There is no way a tune "overworked" your TCM.

Keep thinking that. But it's possible.
Do realize that it's very difficult to believe that a tune blew your TCM (or damaged wires or whatever it was) several months after being installed...all while you have also made extensive DIY modifications to your transmission and the vehicle's software.

To be fair, you have ZERO proof that the tune caused the issue, at least no more proof then your own modifications caused the issue. You are of course welcome to think whatever you like regarding what may have caused the damage, but to publicly disparage a tuning company based on anecdotal evidence is just a little classless.

I'm not here picking sides (I really don't care...honest), it's just cringeworthy seeing you yell from the mountain tops about how Tom blew up your car when there isn't any direct evidence to suggest that was the case. COULD it be the case? Sure...but as of right now no one knows that for sure.

Joey, it is entirely likely that a tune could have done this. Electronics are manufactured to be within a certain range of specifications, and the software loaded runs based on that. Tom's tune, while it looks safe, might change the range of acceptable specifications for long term durability. Im not saying Tom made a mistake in tuning, merely that one must remember that when one adds a more aggressive piece of software, one will start to stress the entire system and weak points will start to reveal themselves.

You are right that there is zero proof that it was Tom's tune that caused it, but again, there is also evidence that similar problems occured when computers first started being overclocked. That said, I do agree that perhaps Jose's modifications were what toasted the wiring... But as you said, there is no proof one way or the other, and because my understanding is that Tom does each tune unique to what the purchaser wants, it might never happen again.

However, i will say this. I do agree that Tom's attitude when this all started did not help matters. Rather than help Jose to figure out the problem, saying "well, its not my tune, go talk to Ford" was the wrong choice and probably inflammed an already sensitive issue.

Alright papaacer, Joeywhat, & novus let it go. This topic of if a tune can or can not mess up the TCM is starting to get old. Stop beating a dead horse.

Let's just hope Jose gets his car back soon .

Yes, let's get roslyn back on the road. .. no hoonin this weekend unfortunately though joe.... oh well... there's always next week... better than saying there's always next year... lol... kidding... gotta hurry and get it back so u can crown ur ride!!!!!!

Given there's just a few weeks to the end of the year it feels like there's always next year, especially given how long it took them to actually find the damaged wires and to then swap the TCM also rather than believing that it could be salvaged. I'm sure they wanted to try and reduce the bill by not replacing the TCM, but after finding the missing fuse for the PCM and the damaged wiring the next step would have been to test with a different TCM imo, not this constant chance of loading the software.

Either way it will be good for him to have the car back again, and my advice is to leave it be and not to play with tuning or modifying the software anytime soon given this was a $2200+ debacle with almost no end in site for the last several weeks. It is now almost at that end.

I can't say anything as to the tune being at fault, but once burned twice shy and what not.

Whatever damaged the wires is likely to blame/ is the root cause.

The reason I wouldn't use Tom for tuning has nothing to do with this incident and everything to do with his attitude towards the Focus ST as well as there being far better options and much nicer hardware than anything SCT offers (x3/x4 etc) in the form of the Accessport should I desire to tune the ST, and the SE is not meant to really get modified beyond where it already is, minus the potential rear valence for the exhaust should one ever be made.

I don't see how a tune can damage wires. Its not like the voltage/ amperage could be increased enough to do so. Damaged wires can cause a TCM or other electronic device to go bad and then lead to more damaged wires due to shorts.

So what damaged the wires? That would be the most likely cause for the issue.

Why is it that my Aunt's base 2006 Explorer's stock speakers sound WAY better than my upgraded ones? Just shows how crappy our headunit is :/
