Thank you!

I have over 500 posts on the other forum for my build. I don't want to violate the rules, but there are better descriptions and installation instructions. I would transfer some of the post over here, but that is a real pain!

I love this car and love the chin splitter looks great overall. Suggest a little dip around the overlays to hide the remaining chrome but that's just me.
I love the suggestion, but lack the proper painting techniques to pull this off properly. I will be experimenting soon with my engine cover and will work from there.

Congratulations! Amazing build.
Thanks! A work in progress.
Very nice ride but with the added ponies what does it run in the 1/4 vs stock?
After my first tries with the car I learned why I built this car to be driven. Those people that can launch this car successfully have some serious track time. This car is built to handle curves and power through staights.

I was consistently over 100 mph in the quarter but was only able to achieve 14.6.

My lessons, you can't out drive the computer.

Remember stock tires are not slicks. Yeah I went through the water trap and could not gain traction the whole run. It was funny.

I have the cp-e stage 2 rmm and love it, but you really need to replace all the mounts to drag at your best. I personally don't want the heavy vibration.

You can burn the hell out of your clutch but you only achieve the smell of failure.
This is not awd or rwd. I have never dragged a fwd traction controlled car until Friday. If you want to achieve success you need to put the time in at the track. But as a word of caution I did not build the car to drag or go through those repairs and expenses. So before you take your car to the strip remember this is very hard on her.

Still a nice trap so with real traction that should be close to a low 13 but launching high hp fwd takes a bit of practice or maybe a lot. I struggled with my SC'd Type R but still was able to get it in the high 13s consistently but it was more of a road course car and fun on twisty mountain roads.

I still can't bring myself to track my DD.
I had a hard time deciding on if I should. Once I did it was like a blast from the past. I doubt I will do it again for a long time.

I think with traction and a great launch it is a high 13s car. Thanks, but I would need a lot of track time to nail it but I am more of a road course guy.

2014 FocusFest Review

ST Group link to the group thread for FocusFest 2014 an inside perspective:

The following is my personal review:

2014 FocusFest 2nd place

2014 Rebel Devil Customs Crew Choice

2014 Fun Ford Weekend Best of Class

I would like to thank most of all EdgeAutosport for allowing my girl to mature. The Mistress is truly blessed to have such a great sponsor and you guys are top notch! I wish I lived closer so I could swing by the shop and BS.

I would like to thank Rebel Devil Cusoms and their crew for voting for my car as their favorite. I was truly humbled, and honored. Your crew represented you well and I believe you achieved your goals for this event.

I built this car because I wanted a place I could escape and release some stress. The Mistress was appropriately named because she will always be my other woman. I spend a lot of time with her because I enjoy turning a wrench, getting creative, and making this car unique to me. The time I have been able to enjoy with my son on this car has been priceless, and that time is something we shall always have. The times that I finish a project, and especially the times that I have my kids help, I get done and just smile. That is what this is about. So when other’s notice this work and appreciate her like I do, I am truly honored.

This car has brought me to some great people and I am forever grateful. I think we can all agree that this Forum, despite how evil it is for giving us ideas, to spend more money, is truly a place to connect with others. It may start out as an escape from our day to day grind, but in reality, the forum connects us to great people with the same passions. When you meet that person for the first time, you might think, dang this person is how I thought they would be, or wow I am surprised, that is not what I expected. You truly have a connection with the person, and in the end, your perception of the person is probably accurate as the countless posts have already sorted through the BS.

FocusFest for me this year was my first major show, so to be selected for awards was a little shocking to me, but was outstanding for The Mistress. I hope my son has really learned some great lessons from this experience!

FocusFest 2014
July 25 – July 27, 2014
Gateway Motorsports Park in St. Louis, MO
300 Miles one way

I left my house with my son all packed up on Friday morning. The trip to Saint Louis took us mainly down I70 and we were able to roll not more than 10over the speed limit. I was supposed to go with a fellow ST driver from Kansas City, but not sure what has happened to him. The drive was smooth and the car performed well. When I arrived at the Drury Inn people were already in the parking lot. It was cool outside due to the light rain and wind. I first met hemicouple and his wife and were trying to figure out what to do. I talked to TangerineST on the phone and he was at the track, so Ocysp and hemi decided to head down.

When we arrived at the track we discovered nobody knew what was going on, so we went over to the car show side. There we were able to register, but that was still confusing. Luckily they figured out what we were there for and we were able to get registered. Some of the guys decided it was time to take on the strip. I watched for awhile, but it had been over 15 years since I raced so I had no plans, but the urge drew me in with some pressure from my son. After my first tries with the car I learned why I built this car to be driven. Those people that can launch this car successfully have some serious track time. This car is built to handle curves and power through straights from a roll.

I was consistently over 100 mph in the quarter but was only able to achieve 14.6.
My lessons:
1.You can't out drive the computer.
2.Remember stock tires are not slicks. Yeah I went through the water trap and could not gain traction the whole run. It was funny and Oycsp has video proof.
3.I have the cp-e stage 2 rmm and love it, but you really need to replace all the mounts to drag at your best. I personally don't want the heavy vibration. Wheel hop at a drag strip is an understatement.
4.You can burn the hell out of your clutch but you only achieve the smell of failure.
This is not awd or rwd. I have never dragged a fwd traction controlled car until Friday. If you want to achieve success you need to put the time in at the track. But as a word of caution I did not build the car to drag or go through those repairs and expenses. So before you take your car to the strip remember this is very hard on her.
5.Have fun

I am thankful for the cp-e FMIC as it made a huge difference, but the car did get too hot after repeated runs. I had a blast even with some embarrassment, but if you aren’t having fun then why are you doing it?

We watched some racing, and talked about cars, and then it was off to the hotel. The consistent theme with the exception of Saturday was what we are supposed to be doing. The meet and greet portion of Friday night was just that, nothing planned just meet and greet.

I was able to meet with @edgeautosport.com and @timkim at Applebee’s. This was the first time I had met the team in person, and they are what I expected, just younger! Apparently I am the old guy of the EdgeAutosport team. JP and Adam are knowledgeable beyond expectations; they truly care about the customer experience. One of the things I really like is how like me, they want something done right the first time and the right part for the right customer. This makes sense, why would I buy something for my car, and not be happy then sell the part on the Forums? I am a firm believer is doing something right the first time and I hope my build shows this. Tim is what you expect and like JP and Alan, they are my type of people. I have nothing negative to say about my experience dealing with edge and I think we are a great match.

There was some more meet and greet Friday night, and then off to bed. I don’t know why I bothered since I couldn’t sleep anyways.

I left the hotel early Saturday at 6:30 with JP, Alan, and Tim. There were registration issues along with location issues but these were resolved in a decent amount of time. I immediately wished I had rinsed my car off, but I used a waterless cleaning system to get the girl ready. By the way, Tim can really detail a car! If you didn’t check out his display, it was sick!

So while we were doing this, the other cars caravanned over to the event, and filed in. There was a minor parking lot accident right way but all is well now and in the process of getting repairs. A little after 8 the drag racing started and that was fun to watch. There was some confusion about how everything was going to be judged but I believe the proper forms made it to everyone that wanted to be judged. I was able to talk to the judges a little but wasn’t sure what they needed to know, so I will need to have a better presentation of my car for next year. It was great walking around, getting ideas, watching modifications happen on the spot, and talking to other owners. I enjoyed talking to other owners the most as I am sure everyone is aware I have an issue with wanting to help out too much lol.

Some cons about the event were at times it seemed disorganized and nobody knew what was going on. I really thought there would be more cars, but I was told this was the largest event for both FocusFest and the largest ever for Ford Fun Weekend, they did thank us Focus guys at the awards!

I was disappointed not to see more vendors. The standout was EdgeAutosport by far, and that was the talk among everyone. Panda Motor Works did well, but I did not get a chance to talk with them. Rebel Devil Customs was out in force with a lot of people representing. Ford Racing was there taking pictures. I don’t want to call anyone out; it says a lot when you show up at an event.

Temperatures were around 100 degrees with a heat index up to 110 degrees, with the track and the pavement it was probably much warmer. The temps did cause people to leave early, but there was a lot of dedication out there and people really stuck it out. Mrs. Hemicouples flip flops melted. I melted with half my car and we are now one.

There were a lot of food places. The autocross event looked great; the wall however surrounding the event scarred the crap out of my lead foot, so I did not do it. I really enjoyed looking at the other type of Focus vehicles, and the mustangs. A stand out was the guy that drove his car from California, he rightfully won the distance award!

Right before the Awards I received a phone call about my mom who has been battling cancer and was rushed to the hospital. (She is strong and holding on). I want to apologize if I seemed a little off at the awards.

FocusFest did their awards first right on schedule. I was thankful and surprised to be selected by Rebel Devil Custom’s crew. Thanks guys! EdgeAutosport really cleaned house in the ST portion. JP’s car was third place, The Mistress was second, and Tim was first. I think those green and orange rims attracted them towards my car, so thanks guys! Fun Ford Weekend handed a lot of awards out to the Focus guys and that was great! I wasn’t even sure which category I was selected in, but I am still honored.

The pizza arrived about 7 and basically people just hung out. Many of the FocusST.org guys ended up at Joe’s crabs and we had a good time.

Next year I would like to caravan to the event, nothing too large, just manageable. I really want to a huge representation and takeover by the Ford Focus ST!

Again I would like to show my appreciation and I truly enjoyed getting to know everyone in person. JP, Alan, and Tim this is only the beginning. Everyone I had a chance to finally meet in person, you guys are the best and I can’t wait to see everyone again!
