This just happened.
Good stuff.

Sup y'all! I've been looking around for stuff that I can save up for this summer. I was wondering MK4 GTI wise, should one go the VR6 route for awesome sound or 1.8T?
Meh, get a MK1 (or even a MK2). If you're planning on keeping the Focus there's no reason to get another daily driver vehicle, lol. Early vdubs are insanely easy to work on and will inevitably teach you a lot.

And then when you're capable you can swap in the engine of your choice. They make VR6 engine swap kits that include everything you need besides the engine and transmission that are pretty affordable.

And if you're after that sound you could even slap some ITBs or a nice carburetor on the stock 8v or swap in a 16v (and do the same) for a few more HP also.

All of this.
After yesterday I have renewed my absolute crazy love for MK1 Vdubs. Clean Jetta was clean. Slammed and sexy sitting on some pretty wheels.

Good cruise was good. 355 miles total for me. Using 11.5 gallons of petrol. Equals about 30.8 mpg even with some asshat type driving in the mix. Can't complain too much.
Thanks to the THR crew for hosting and setting up this event. I had a great time and the turnout was ridiculous.
Not bad for mpg overall! not sure what I get in the e30 yet because all the gauges are borked currently.

Thanks to everyone that came out! Our best turnout yet, a few hiccups/growing pains as to be expected but we've already heard some great suggestions/feedback and hope to keep getting bigger and make things smoother at the same time!

did anybody happen to get a count of how many cars? last year we had 13, this year we had more than that alone come from the east side!
