yea...here in Texas there is a custom shop where there are a few feakin sweet hondas...but not so great ones also....like there was a civic that I heard leave and it sounded like a nasty fart...and I heard it for about a mile! thats ricer... but then again some of them are really modded out

Modded Honda = sweet
Riced Honda = GHEY.

I love honda, i think they make great cars. It just makes me laugh when i see a kid with a bone stock powertrain sporting a 6ft tall wing with an exhaust can the size of a watermelon, and some stickers for stuff he doesn't even have. Hell, I laugh at ANY car like that, Hondas, Foci, Saturns (a big one in this area), even some Rustangs

I've come to realize that most honda owners trade exhaust sound in exchange for quality. they'd rather gain a few horses and have their car sound like a pissed-off bumble bee with a weedeater, than have a good sounding, but not as performance enhancing system. My friend drives a 1998 grang prix gtp pushin nearly 400 horses, but his exhaust sounds like crap to acheive the back pressure he needs for the supercharger.

In other news, never race an integra or a prelude.....or a jacked up tahoe with a 454, but I didn't have much choice with that last one.

I dunno...something about that exhaust can that is just bolted onto a stock 1.5" pipe that makes me chuckle. Although I agree, sometimes the exhaust sounds like shit, but it functions....and I'll respect that when I hear it go by and go 'pssssssssssh' or make that oh so sexy s/c whine.

Well you gotta think, my buddy had a civic 94 with a 1.6 stock 102 HP, he had a exaust, header and CAI and runs 15.8 in 1/4

About exaust systems- us focus guys can pay $350 or so for a exaust and sound really good.

Hondas have to spend about $500 for a good sounding exaust, the exaust my budy has he spent $325 and it sounds like a damm lawnmower and not a john deere

i beg to differ... a lot of people 'rice out' hondas... but i see few that are truly 'modded'...

i actually found a buyer for my foci.. and am considering getting a honda due to the ease of making it go fast... i mean u get the right body style.. and you've got a car that's lighter than the focus, looks better than the focus, and goes faster than the focus...

here's some food for thought:

okay.. you own a focus... things are well.. then you discover that somone on a honda board started a thread about foci and they've said the things everyone has in this thread.. but about the focus.... how pissed off would you be... i've seen this happen all the time... its called 'hate'... i feel sorry for you if you bash another car without owning one... as 90% of the posters in this thread have... its just not cool... hondas are imports.. foci are domestic.. but we all own 'sport compact' type cars... we're in the same boat... i've seen a few riced out foci in my day.. and its depressing... i can only imagine its just as depressing to those who own respectable (not riced out) hondas..

so before yall keep on with the hating... remember.. this is probably happenning on some honda board... where they're bashing something that they have no business meddling in... as yall have done here...

if you hate being slow so much.. just deal with it... no use in whining...

i Agree, your not a true car enthusiast if you can't respect anycar, for has been done for it.....im trying to build a V8 killer over here.....for less money i built my friend civic into one lol. an that's a kick in the but. the imports are fast. unless i can get a 88 ram charger for me ot cut an go custom with, i will probally end up with a import...an no rice either, all motor....thats where i made the mistake with my focus. but then again it was cheaper for me to retore it with aftermarket parts then stock lol.

thanks for seeing it the way i did.. few do... i appreciate people that can keep an open mind... as for what kind of car i'm getting.. i still dont know... since it's gonna cost the same to go fast no matter which car i get.. its mostly a matter of what car i want to have to deal with...

things i'm considering:

92-95 civic hatch.. if u drop it and get a decent paint job on there.. they look nice... and have a plethera of motor swaps available...

98-03 zx2... one of the most underrated cars on the planet.. both the zx2 and civic have better weight/power ratios and both handle better than the focus

91-96 escort gt... came with mazda's 1.8 motor.. 2000 bones puts mazda's j-spec 1.8 turbo motor with forged internals in this car.. with a turbo that'll spit out around 13 psi all day...

99-00 cougar.. take the 2.5 svt cyl heads and cams and toss them on top of the cougar's 3.0 block.. and you have a n/a monster...

who knows.. the bold text in my sig (if they ever work again) says it all...

Im in no way trying to plown on Civics or imports, but I beat a 99 Civic Si w/exhaust 3 times in a row at the street races. Everytime he would come up with a new excuse(missed shift, bad launch) but i just kept beating him. When I had my nitrous kit, i raced an S2000 from 5 mph and i had a slight head start and he caught me by a half a car length. When my car had just a new muffler in place of the stock one and 2.25" piping over the rear suspension, i beat a 96 civic EX w/GReddy exhaust, intake, and header by 3 car lengths, and a Nissan 200sx 1.6 with intake, header, exhaust, and chip by the same amount in a 3 way race after about 1/3 of a mile. Their cars were empty and i had my 260 lbs. football player friend with me. Dont give up on the Focus for bein fast. I ran a 16.3 with only intake and 2.25" exhaust. I am hoping for low 14's on 8 lbs. of boost and conservative clutch handling. As for the Integra and Prelude...

Integra=beat every one except for C series motor. Raced a Type R for fun.
Prelude=to much respect. I have annihilatied my share. Assuming they are not an H22, then it was time to push the N20 button.[:D]

<<<<Me on my way to beating this civic with intake, exhaust, cam, header, vtec controller, and a bunch of other goodies.

yea...I wish I knew hondas a little better before I decided to take the challenge.... even though hondas are a bunch of POS's
I have both a 1990 integra gs and a ford focus se sedan with intake and a chip,
lets just say I spank the crap out of my focus (me and my bro raced) the integra is completely
stock. And as far as honda/acura's being a p.o.s. I do less maintenance on my integra with 210,000 miles on it than my under 49K ford focus so I don't know that they are a peice of s*** as you say. Don't get me wrong...... I'M NOT Trashing focuses (that would be stupid) I just think saying that is inaccurate. Yea Honduhs have more rice than ANYONE MAKE out there
And I do agree that the Focus is a much better looking car than the integra but thats a matter of opinion, they are only a p.o.s if they have VTEC stickers and SiR stickers and shopping cart
spoilers on them with a 5 inch exhaust tips. The only reason that the focus looses is because
the focus has a fat ass on her, but we can change that.
There are just as many options for tricking out our cars as hondas, the only difference is that we cant swap motors so easy.

^^ I like phat asses. hehe

I think integras are sweet. and they are deffinately easier to hook up as with the focus

u guys make it seem like our foci are slow. i have a 04 focus zx3 thats bone stock, and i can keep up wit a stock 97' 325i and a 240sx with exhaust and a prelude( stock of course). ive even beaten them a couple times. ANd theres nothing more i hate than ricer civics. havent really raced one yet, but i would be mad if i got spanked by a fairly stock one. THe trouble with those damn civics, are some of the faster ones are sleepers.
