Just pull the negative off the battery for like 5-10 minutes. Should reset the CEL.
Yeah, but the thing with that is after disconnecting the battery, you need a code in order to get the radio to work again. So I need to check my owners manual and see if that code is in there.

If not, I have to call a dealer and I don't remember if they charge for that or not.

But I'm talking to a dude on the vortex Facebook and he said he just reset his today with a GIAC chip and had no issues. I think I will take a chance tomorrow or Tuesday and give it a shot.

Driving around today and realized i needed some more gas, so filled up and got back in my car. After that i realized i used 3/4 of a tank and only went 115 miles... I almost want to say that Walmart did something to my car but im sure that cant be what is going on. Last tank before i got my new tires was about 280 ish miles, and now that the new ones are on this starts to happen. Driving normal, 2.5-3k shifts not slamming though the gears or anything, and car is acting normal like always.

well winter gas gives you worse mileage...and if you did more short town driving that would be it also...

chris do the HFC...easier

Check tire pressure.

Also what Joe said. You get worse mileage with winter gas.. but that is a heck of a drop in MPG. Check and make sure the MAF is connected. Though if it wasn't, the car would probably run like crap.

Well I said screw it and went ahead and reset the ECU without the radio code.. didn't even need it. Radio came back on and works fine. CEL is gone for now.. so we'll see if it comes back. I'm going to run to Vatozone tomorrow and have my buddy clear the codes out of the system just to make sure.

But I did find this little tidbit, that I wish I had known right after I swapped out DP and o2 sensors..

"26. Since the learned long term fuel trim values in the ECM memory depend in part on the condition of the oxygen sensors, it is a good idea to reset the values if you changed the pre-cat oxygen sensor (the post-cat sensor only monitors catalytic converter efficiency - it has nothing to do with fuel trim / engine control). To reset the fuel trim values, either disconnect the (-) battery terminal for approximately 15 minutes and then reconnect it (remember to have your radio code handy) or erase fault codes in the engine module (even if there are none) using a VAG-COM. The car may drive crappy for a little while since all the fuel trim values are now zero and other learned parameters have also been erased. These values and parameters should return to normal relatively quickly and the car should run normally after that occurs."

After reading that, I decided to give it a try for my stumbling issue. I replaced O2 a few weeks ago but didn't seem to improve anything. Just reset the ECU tonight, went for a 12 mile cruise, and it seems to be better. I'll give it a few more days to be sure but I'm glad you posted that Ryan!

Not a problem. I didn't even know that ECU reset method worked for all cars. I thought it was just a VW thing lol.

I have a feeling that it won't have solved my issue.. but we'll see in the next few days if the CEL comes back or not. Hopefully not because I dont want to buy another o2 sensor or go searching for a vacuum leak lol.

It's running great and still turns heads once in a while. My orange license plate sticker will match nicely this year. The intake came loose from where it bolts at the bottom and I replaced an O2 sensor but otherwise no problems. I haven't done anything to it yet though I hope to wrap the header this winter to manage the heat it throws off. Then maybe a short-throw shifter and a dead pedal and floor and cargo mats from Redline Tuning (to cover the cuts in the hatch carpet). Basically it's plenty fast enough for me, assuming I don't go for any more rides in Turbo Zach's Focus anytime soon. Oh and I was going to put a three-foot wide Chicago Bears decal on the hood to see how it looks before I got it air-brushed on but I think I'll just go ahead and get it painted.
Good to hear Tom! Glad she is still holding on. Wrapping the exhaust manifold would be a great idea. When I got it the heat shield was missing. Just something I never got around to doing.

So I found out 2 of my long time friends were involved in the robbery at Gamestop in Waukesha just before Xmas. Mike, Josh, you guys might have heard about it.

It doesn't mention the other one who was the getaway driver.. but apparently they were both on the news tonight. The one that isn't mentioned is actually my cousin by marriage.. shit pisses me off. I knew that he had relapsed and was back on drugs, but I didn't know they BOTH were.. and I sure as shit didn't know it was heroine.

Holy crap.. Reminds me of that post I did on fb remember? My buddy from h.s. getting charged for murder? It's crazy man...

Yeah, I remember that man. Shit is crazy. I hope they get slammed with the maximum.

They're the type of dudes who are in too deep and will never get out now. Might as well just keep them locked up. They're no good to society anymore.
