So, I've been thinking, if I get this new job, I'm going to invest in a new (well not new, but new to me) vehicle. I'm thinking a truck or Jeep.

I need something that will pull a trailer.

What do you suggest?

How big the the trailer you want to pull? My first instinct would be to suggest a Jeep Cherokee, but it depends on the answer to that question. Cherokees are cheap, and the 4.0L straight-6 is torquey, reliable and very easy to get parts for. Don't expect good gas mileage though. I get about 15 MPG in town and 20 highway with mine.

I'm not a huge fan of SUVs. I don't really need the back seat. Kinda just need a 2 seater. I've never drove an Escape, so I don't know how much power they have. I was thinking a 6 cyl. would be perfect.

Isn't an Explorer bigger than an Escape? Plus I don't need all the extra room. It's just gonna be me and maybe another person and 2 four wheelers.

Would a Ranger have enough power to pull that?

I think most of the escapes have a V6. They are small and are FWD until you select 4WD.

4x4 S10 with 4.3 vortec has plenty of power for a trailor and it a v6 like you like. Ive got a grand cherokee with the straight 6 in it. Once i put the 32s on it started doggin with oversize tires and the trailer. wasnt sure if my tranny was going to hold out with 12 ft trailer and mower on it. Couldnt believe it. but ive only got 2k into my jeep so far. bought for couple hundred with blown tranny and font end. Fix her up with parts ive found on Craigs.
