It may not be practical, but just to be clear: the Titanium models without the optional Handling Package do not have a full-size spare tire. So theoretically, you could convert to a compact spare with the correct foam parts.
Is the full size spare on a regular 18" Ti handling rim? Or is it still a limited service type tire/wheel combo?

Mine is on order, otherwise I would go look[woot]

I can't answer that because I do not have the handling package. Hopefully someone who does can chime in here.

Gonna have to collect 3 more of those... good winter wheels I don't have to care about!

16 steelies w/215-55=25.3" dia
18 Ti's w/235-40=25.4" dia

the 215's would be much better for snow/ice, especially with something like the Blizzaks I use for winter rubber on my Subaru

If you could find a setup cheap, I'd say get this and an adapter. (research shows this bmw wheel is likely a 5x4.72", Focus is 5x4.25")

$430 for a donut! That would buy many years of AAA membership, and then you could just leave your spare at home. I would check your local junkyard for a Volvo mini-spare, probably only cost a few bucks and it would have the proper bolt pattern.

I like the idea of trying the smaller foam insert with smaller spare, cuz like was mentioned before there would be no other place for the amp to the Sony system. As for other options, my '08 had the compressor with tire goop and did not even come with a spare. I do miss the compressor but never had to use the goop.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I like the one posted above ... that doesn't seem to cut into trunk space ... or is that something you did to the car that wasn't factory?

I'm personally not a huge fan of donuts. In my 11 I have a full size spare. I didn't lose a ton of trunk space, but I feel better I have a full size spare. It *is* a studded snow tire, but it's better than a donut. I can drive more than 10 miles at 10 miles per hour (not quite, but you get the idea).

I'm not sure if a 00-07 Taurus would work (they use the same bolt pattern IIRC) but why not get a 16'' rim from a taurus (alloy if you want to save space) and then get a tire that's a bit skinnier with a higher sidewall aspect ratio?

I guess I will have to look closer, I'm assuming we have the same 16' spare then as I also have the 18' package. Would you go with something smaller or leave it as is??

Well I did panic this weekend when I almost couldn't fit my acoustic guitar (in a case) in the back =O. I got it in but leaves no room to spare. I think I will get a doughnut so I can get more depth when packing for week long trips.

Understandable! I realized that supposedly you can fold down the back seats flat so until I start having kids that may help also with space constraints!

I thought when they meant "full size spare", it would be the same OE rims and tires as the 18's... or did you replace it with the 16?
"Full size" means that it's not a temporary duty, limited speed spare (donut spare). That 16" Conti is the same tire as mounted on the rest of the 16" Foci.

I wonder if the actual 18" from a Ti Handling would fit back there. Might be nice to have the spare be the exact same rim as the other 4.
