Still, to be an attorney at that age and afford that car is not common. I still wonder if his family has a huge firm, or if he has some crazy specialty law.

I believe I've read his father does the same work as him, so he would be an attorney as well. But that, I'm unsure. It's still a super clean car and he seems to be pretty respectable and mellow about owning such a ridiculous car at that age.

For the most part yes, I feel like he does brag in some of his "spotted threads" from CA, etc. The look what cars are in my garage thread, and look at what wheels were on my car, and stuff of that nature. Can't say I'd be any better if I had the car, I just really hate entitled people, so I've always been curious how much of his $$ is his $$. I have friends that make good money, and they drive a ridiculous car because of their parents, not themselves. (You don't make $100k and drive a lambo, unless you have some help.)

I don't know, it's a car forum and people who love cars, love exotic cars. I mean the pimp stuff thread is probably the busiest thread on that entire forum, it's just pictures of cars lol. I do understand how someone could interpret it as boasting, and can't say I necessarily disagree. It's a forum of generally younger kids whom you know are going to be insanely jealous of your Lambo. I'm sure his parents have, or do help him financially.

I've been shopping (as always) for a new car, and am kind of seriously interested in a newer GTI. Anyone know anything about the DSG transmissions? Are they more financial trouble than anything?

Yay the more local vw people the better! I say do it, but I wouldn't get one with DSG (just personal preference).
I do love the third pedal, but it seems like it would be still a very fun car to drive with the DSG, but without the hassle of ALWAYS having to shift. I don't know, sometimes I do get tired of it, but don't want the option completely gone.. And I don't want it shitty and miserable like most auto-select shift (or whatever you wanna call it) vehicles are. I'm starting to narrow options for my next car down to a 1st gen Mazdaspeed 3 (which are getting harder to find unmolested at a reasonable price), Volvo s60r/v70r (though it seems kinda pricey to own), new Focus ST if priced right, Subarus (Impreza, Legacy, Forester - XT or WRX were applicable, of course), or a GTI 4 door. I just want more room and a little more go. I love my Focus but meh, I want a higher quality overall vehicle.

I was torn between a manual the DSG but the "right" car came along and it happened to be a DSG so I gave it a whirl, and I really have no regrets in regards to choosing it.

Many 06-08 model year DSG cars are covered under a 10yr/100K warranty for the trans and the mechatronics unit itself. If you find a car I'd certainly have a VW dealer run the VIN to see if the trans. is covered, and if so, was the repair done and when. Mine was done under recall at 30k (when I bought it) and the 40K service was also performed at that time.

40K is the recommended service interval. Dealer or independent shop prices are going to be in the $320-400 range. This is for fluid/flush and typically does NOT include the filter, which is another $80-120, again, depending on where you go. My dealer said they see very little issue with waiting till 80K for the filter. They felt it a bit overboard to change it at the 40K service.

The trans. itself is brilliant. To me, it's the best of both worlds and when I'm sitting on 96 in stop n go traffic, my cranky left knee is thanking me.

I've put about 24K miles on my car since last April and the trans. has been bulletproof, and my car gets driven fairly aggressively, fairly often. Just my 2 cents, others may have different views.

hi doug. standard i was thinking about a gti. decided not in the end to save money. but i not liking my focus right now. seems like theres a little issue with it. im thinking intake filter needs a good cleaning and need to replace fuel filter but wont know till i do the work.

also coolant flush is waste of money. in longs u haven't put water in your coolant just draining it and putting new coolant in there is good enough.

Used to have a Viper, now he has a Murcielago, and I believe he's about 30.
^ That

04 i believe murielago.. and had that 2002 as a daily but has it up for sale in favor if an E36 M3 he bought instead.

hmmmm
vipers are dipping down into the $25-30k range and I know plenty of people that are under 30 ish driving brand new hondas/toyota's domestics etc. that cost more than that

so the viper I can see....hell there are plenty of people that age driving c5 z06's and c6's its just that the viper is less common so it gets more notice.

for that matter you could drive a porsche 996tt if you could get yourself into a vette.

The Murci is in the 120-150k range so that one doesnt make nearly as much sense but then again.......hard to say without knowing the kids background. If he scholarshipped or had his parents pay his way for school it wouldn't be totally crazy to think perhaps he graduated at 22-23 with no debt....start saving 8-9k a year and by the time your 30 trade in the viper plus the cash you saved and you'd have a large enough down payment to get yourself into a lambo fairly easily

I agree its implausible but I think its slightly possible.......mostly am just Jealous and hope I'm driving a lambo at 30 lol

morning. cant wait to go to autoshow soon. I'm seriously thinking of buying a new car. I'm also surprised on the price of the new beetle too. i want to know how new focus feels for speed and accelerating. i want a car with warrenty so im not paying for stupid shit every year but its got to be decently quick/similar to my 2.3 st.

Damn... that suspension looks sexy... that being said would prolly cost us a lot and probably screw up our time table... speaking of i'll see if clayton can start getting photos ready and sent to you for teh sales
