Eight Year Anniversary

Sunday was the 8th anniversary (or as someone said on facebook, Carniversary [giddy] ) of the day I bought Sonic. We had a Focus Rising Oklahoma G2G at Pole Position Raceway in OKC in the early afternoon and then on my drive home I stopped at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa for a "carniversary photo shoot".

I've used this location before since I can take some shots with different backgrounds and also without being bothered. All I have is a point and shoot camera and my skills, well they suck, but I tried to get some different angles with the setting sun behind me. Also, in some of the pictures Sonic's a bit dusty and the barrell of the wheels got some tar slung on them during my 250 mile round trip drive to OKC that morning.

Sadly, I missed my goal of hitting 200K on the 8th anniversary. I rolled over 194K on the way to OKC for the meet, but 200K will easily be obtained before the end of the year.

I love how stock your car looks.

Is that the Mustang/Focus aluminum fuel door? Was it a PITA to install?

I like to refer to it as OEM+ because it is definitely NOT stock, but you need to know your cars to spot the changes. The car doesn't look molested like a lot of modified cars tend to look.

You sure did, missed it. Was that a pain to install? I know you have to modify the fuel neck.

Actually, I responded about that too:

And no, the fuel door was not hard to install, just a little trimming of some mounting points and it bolts right in.

More than every now and then. For the first 6 years I did about 10 events each year. These last two I haven't been to as many due to cost of tires and maintenance for the car.

Yeah there's a few of us around. I've had my car since new; it's been just over 7 years now. It is getting ready to turn over 130,000 miles. It's still in really good condition. Currently, I put around 20,000 miles a year on it. I thought I drove a lot. It sounds like you drive more than I do though.

Ataru, glad to see you're keeping it in nice condition. How much longer do you plan on keeping it for?
