So. I will be ordering my summer rubber on Friday. Which means I can get to work sanding and re-spraying the SVT wheels on Thursday since I'm off. SO [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)] JACKED!!! Does anyone know if the SVT wheel paint code is the same as the CD Silver paint code? Or is it just a base silver? Also, what grit sandpaper do you guys suggest I use for this? I'm assuming start low, then work my way to higher numbers, but I'm wondering if I only need 2 or 3 different grits, or 4 or 5 or 6 or whatever. This is my first time.. so I iz a virgin.

I just use a 400 or 600 if its just a color change or freshen up. Make sure to get the nooks and crannies and to wash with soap afterwards to remove any grease or oils. Have fun.

Yeah, 400-600 is a good place to start. If you have deeper scratches then step it down. I have had to go as low as 80 or so on some wheels to get the scratches out. Keep in mind, the lower you go, the longer it will take to get it smoothed back out to 400 before painting.

I have a set of wheels in the garage now that I need to clean up. They have quite a bit of deep scratches, so I will have to start off with a file. I don't know if I am going to try out the JB-weld method, or if I'll just file and then sand them smooth. I guess it depends on how they look after filing, and how much I care.

Also, yes, definitely wash and dry thoroughly before paint, and just follow the directions on the can for whatever paint you use.

Another tip, I recommend against chemical strippers. Every friend I have seen attempt to strip a wheel with chemicals winds up doing much more work than he needed to do. After doing a chemical strip you usually wind up being forced to sand all the way down to bare metal on the entire wheel, instead of just sanding the clear off and smoothing out scratches.

Sounds good. Thanks guys. The only places I'm worried about is the lip because a couple of the wheels have some nasty curb rash. I just plan on sanding it down and smoothing it out, rather than jb-welding it. If 400 isn't enough I guess I'll go from there but hopefully it is.

I think I'm also going to pick up some colored lugnuts.. any votes for certain colors?

IMHO

Tint rules. I may be stripping my grids down with sand paper. Apparently the sand blaster needs work done. I think I'll start with 300 grit. The wheels are pretty beat. So I won't really bother with fixing that. They are race wheels anyhow.

Brenton, im working on pricing for your roof yet, i have to get my dad to stand still for a min. to measure everything out and make sure ill have enough to do it right :)
