FRPP Installed and alignment question...

I installed the FRPP kit and I have two questions.

Should the line around the front struts meet the top of the spindle exactly? It seems to sit about 1/4" above the spindle. I am wondering if it wasn't seated all the way down. Seems that the front fender height is 25 1/4" and the rear is 25". I fought with both of them to get them to this point. Just curious.

The other issue...
I had an alignment done at Ford and it recommended that I install a new rear Ford part number upper control arm to take out 1* of camber. I'm at -2.00 right now and -1.80(right at spec).

Do you have any thoughts about the alignment? Should I get the camber bolts and have the rear re-aligned? Would you buy the arms or the bolts? I have the PN for the arms listed above.

As far as the struts go,they side in the knuckle & there is a pinch bolt, it only goes on one way, no adjustment on height either & of course there is a left & right. As far as the rear camber goes, I would leave it that way, making sure the toe is set. I have my set at -1.5 for the front & the rear is -2.0.[thumb]

I found it odd that Ford makes a rear upper control arm to actually dial out a degree of camber. Who knew that?

I knew about the aftermarket camber bolts.

Thanks for the info. I'll accept more comments regarding the camber.

I also have the FRPP on my Focus and all I needed was the rear camber bolts but now I have the Massive adjustable control arms and adjustable toe arms so it can be dialed in for the correct specs.

Just curious but did you do a 4 wheel alignment or a 2 wheel ?

Anyway the camber bolts should do the trick for you .

Ford made the arms several years ago when they were delivering some cars with excess camber. They were offering them for free if you exceeded the maximum allowable negative chamber. Many people tried but few qualified and some ended up buying the arms. Seem to be kinda of shady especially when not long after that, Ford modified the alignment specs on newer cars and left those with older cars hanging. The trouble with the Ford arms is that they are not adjustable and they are relatively expensive for what you get. The bolts are the cheapest option and because they are adjustable, you can even out the numbers side to side. There are some aftermarket adjustable upper arms as well but they're a little more expensive than the Ford arms.

Yeah, I've seen the aftermarket arms. Seems like several companies have something to do the trick.

I agree that the bolts are the easiest way to dial out the camber.

I had a 4 wheel done. Rear camber is the only thing they can't get near the middle of spec. My Ford tech really knows his stuff and has worked on all three of my Foci.
