The price of that is pretty ridiculous. The cheapest I have seen it is about $170. Crazy that they value that snorkel st about $100. I've seen some of the other aftermarket snorkels going for even more! Blows my mind!

The small OEM ST snorkel is like $4. LOL

Not really considering what it does, remember most of these parts are for the ST or RS which is a completely different animal than the n/a 2.0, they are forced induction motors which behave differently. The snorkel allows ambient air to be sent directly to the airbox reducing heat soak and stress on the turbo which aids efficiency. I've monitored 20°F lower IAT with the snorkel/closed end filter & stock lid vs. RS lid & open end filter. I'm sure the pressure loss was also lower which increases the efficiency of the turbo. Don't forget the AGS is closed most of the time to maintain better mpg which means the airflow is restricted to a small channel up & around the side of the shroud. The snorkel bypasses this completely.

I'm not discounting the affects of cooler IATs, just the cost of a cheaply made plastic tube.

I'd guess that they cost less than $10 to produce...

Well someone has to pay for the r&d costs involved with measuring and design so it bolts on perfectly and works. Dont forget its also an official Ford Performance part. These other snorkels just copied fords work.

So today i hit the fast food drive through again with the RS airbox and open end filter...by the time i got to the pickup window i was already ~ +80°F over ambient..#gotheatsoak?

Heat soak was my first thought when I saw the design. I’d like to see a dyno of the RS box on a non-RS/ST vs the stock box with a drop-in + snorkel delete.

This is why I leave the plug in on my open-end filter during hot summer months...

I always figured the RS box was basically the same as my setup with the plug out, and possibly even worse for heat soak.

AEM CAI (21-702C) - K&N Dri-Flow Filter

No heat soak for this AEM set up. The cars CAI temps run 2-3 degrees higher than outside. Doesn't matter if its 60 degrees or 100 outside, the temps are the same as the ambient or 2-3 degrees more. This CAI has never gotten heat soaked for me and the FSWERKS, RS and Steeda did.

I'm driving a 2014 2.0 NA motor

According to AEM it doesn't fit anything minus 2012 which seems off to me. Did you have to do any cutting for it to fit?

In all fairness as soon as you get moving the iat drops to ~5-8°F over ambient with the RS box / open end filter and you get a great intake sound and better responsiveness so there is a small tradeoff but for some it is worth it.

There is no way the AEM cai is better than a FRPP cai snorkel and a closed stock box when it comes to performance and price. I bet the FRPP will outflow the AEM setup by a factor of 10:1! Heck just do snorkel delete and throw a k&n filter on the stock system and compare dyno numbers, you are losing all the stock cold air ducting with the AEM setup! But at least it does look nicer than stock!

Hello hot-air intake. All the noise, none of the performance gains.
You should see gains when moving at hwy speeds, it just sucks in that hot air at idle and takes a few minutes to get it back down.

I would think the AEM would be cooler but they would have the same flow factor as the AEM is also getting direct outside air flow but is no where near the hot engine bay. Closed box or not it gets hot

If any the difference is probably minimal but the price difference is dramatic I will give you that.

How hot you think all that piping is getting? [ninja][:(]

Where is all this cold air coming from with the AEM that you are taking about, the small headlight gap? Same area as RS box & open end filter? Low pressure dead zone? I can think of much better ways to spend $350 - $550!

Your tone over text comes off like your 5’6.

Please see attached photos to answer the cold air issue. The last photo is just because I want you to see the things I wasted my money on.

That was an issue. It was reading 6 above when pushing the car for awhile but then I wrapped with thermal wrap and it cooled it off almost all the way.
