Hi everyone, I’m new here and looking for some advice. My buddy and I pulled the engine out of my ol’ladys car last night in our driveway and I just finished tearing it down. It doesn’t look good.... Could this be salvageable with a gun hone and some new pistons? Thanks in advance

Welcome to FF......I'm sure your keeping it for awhile, I'd swap out those pistons/rods for forged & get it pro honed. Or possibly look for a wrecking yard motor......

I’m not sure, I’ve been abusing it for awhile though and it just finally let go.... was at 5k RPM, well north of 25LBS of boost going up a hill.... then poof. I think the tune was a contributing factor but who knows. Hopefully I can find a good deal on a long block ?

I'd say the tune is the contributor......Forged pistons/rods is the way to go if your looking for more......

Factory turbo plus 25psi was the contributing factor

Yeah, looks like that cylinder is burned. If so, it'd need a liner. SO not worth.

If that is just molten aluminum built up, you MIGHT be able to get away with sanding then honing, but that's your time/money.

I'd get a used motor from any Explorer, Edge, Escape, Fusion, or Focus ST that has the 2.0L EcoBoost, swap out everything external and roll out.
