Wish I was a Ford salesman to some of you guys, all I'd have to say is "Ford - 'Murica - Buy it".

There's a lot more involved to think about, and nothing changes that fast.

One thing to think about on the small car subject, name me the small car Ford built that was 100% US designed & manufactured.
Falcon, Maverick into the '75 Granada & then into the 1st foxbody in '78 aka Fairmount.

GM ain't better... funded with US citizen money.

Still leave a bad taste this "deal"...

That's why I believe Ford is the best among US car makers. PERIOD!
Go back a few decades at Chrysler........Great that GM got some help. [thumb]

Have a look at where Cadillac's, Camaro's are assembled now.....
Camaro used to be assembled 20 minute from where I live.

Quebec government injected so much money in this plant that GM decided to close anyway.

We are getting ripped off by GM and Chrysler big time!

I think Gov should just let the car industry go on their own.

I know we are talking about jobs but anyway it's just gonna delay the closure nothing more.

Lansing where the Olds were for yrs, be awesome to go thru that plant. Say anyone been thru a plant & which ones? & yea I have. San Jose/ Fremont yrs ago, Van Nuys, Louisville called Loville, Dearborn.

Those gen 6 Camaro's are cool, I just really can't see out of them, be great for a quick drive & thats it unless it was a convertible w/ the top down, Mustang you can see out of.

Dearborn as a Kid when Mustangs were built there, engine plant right next to the car line.

Ft Wayne for GM Truck, but only a little when delivering radiators (built here).

(Actually MK4 by the time this materializes)

Trump has promised to penalize companies that build cars in Mexico:

"When I am president, we will strongly enforce trade rules against unfair foreign subsidies, and impose countervailing duties to prevent egregious instances of outsourcing. This will continue until we can renegotiate NAFTA to create a fair deal for American workers,"

Ford plans plant in Mexico with 2,800 jobs - Apr. 5, 2016

Within the next two years, Ford will no longer build any small cars in the United States:

Ford moving all small car production to Mexico - Sep. 14, 2016
& be great if he used the 1st real americans too for his workers, but we all know thats not going to happen...

Ford cannot close any U.S. plant until 2019 at the earliest under the terms of its collective bargaining agreement with the United Automobile Workers union (UAW). [per Reuters]

Trump has been feuding with Ford over plans to move small-car production from suburban Detroit to Mexico. On the campaign trail, the real estate mogul promised that he would he would not let the company open a new plant in Mexico and would levy 35 percent tariffs on any Ford vehicles made there.

In response, Bill Ford called Trump's plan "infuriating" and "frustrating."

In past job life I spent time in GM Tarrytown(long since torn down), Ford Louisville, Navistar diesel engine plant in Indy, BMW in Spartanburg plus a few others. They are interesting to say the least.

Yea they sure are.

Fox was the only one I saw who carried DJT's Tweets on Ford as factual, Ford corporate responses were cautious ones.

Louisville plant for one had no plans to move, confirming it wasn't didn't make it Trump's win to keep it there.

Other news channels mentioned that, even went on to mention that there is no way for him to single out an item or manufacturer for a specific tariff at this time.

Crap is kinda like telling the Sun to rise, most aren't surprised when it follows such orders. Believing in the power of the person commanding it? That's where it gets strange.

Speaker Paul Ryan said the tax code can be rewritten to accommodate these tariffs (?) If tariffs are consumed in accounting procedures they may not make any difference at all in vehicle price or leverage on the companies plans.

Keep thinking that... When you have a GOP controlled congress and soon Supreme Court then you can basically pass anything short of treason. Watch those "impossible" tarrifs start being handed out.

They can. Tax laws can be changed and any opposition can be squashed with a Supreme Court ruling which is now going to be controlled by Republicans.
