Getting the mirrors and door handles painted the same color as the rest of the car is one reason I have planned to buy an SE rather than an S, but on yours, with the dark tint and black wheels, they look pretty good in black. The simpler steering wheel on the S without all that junk all over it also appeals to me. Since I'll probably get a silver sedan, now you have me thinking about an S instead.![]()
I installed Sportlines & an Whiteline rear sway bar. ...
When are you buying your car!Getting the mirrors and door handles painted the same color as the rest of the car is one reason I have planned to buy an SE rather than an S, but on yours, with the dark tint and black wheels, they look pretty good in black. Being able to get the SE Sport Package suspension was another reason I'm considering the SE, but I guess if I were just less lazy about it I could do as well with aftermarket parts, like you have. How does it feel after the mods? I guess I should check out your build thread. Thanks for sharing the photos.
Ah yes where Land Rovers are put to their actual use, instead of over here just for pure glitz and glamour to driver around rodeo drive! Saw your write up, glad you were ok though!Had to get a passing by land rover to drag it out

That depends on how soon I get the two old cars I have now sold. My wife has a new SUV and I'm driving her old Avalon ([sleeping]) while trying to get motivated to fix a few things on my old Acura. I don't need the money from the old cars to get a new Focus, just the garage space. They're both still in too good condition to just donate or scrap. When are you buying your car!![]()
Good for you for knowing precisely what you want, though, even if you are back and forth on the precise color. I find that admirable, although I prefer to think I'd be the same way if I had another car at the moment and wasn't in "need" of something to drive. I pretty much decided the Focus was for me after a week's worth of research. I originally thought I'd despise it as the back window is so tiny; I actually sat in one about 4 months ago and immediately discredited it and said "no way" after a frustrating experience with an impatient salesperson. Then, I realized it blind spot mirrors. Then, I realized you could remove the back headrests. Just small items that I didn't take the time to see originally because I just wanted to get the hell away from the salesperson. I kept seeing this Focus on the side of the road on the way the dog park and always thought "damn, I love that car." I went on a whim to a different Ford dealership and test drove one and was immediately impressed. Sometimes, things just deserve a second look, I guess. That depends on how soon I get the two old cars I have now sold. My wife has a new SUV and I'm driving her old Avalon ([sleeping]) while trying to get motivated to fix a few things on my old Acura. Meanwhile I'm still waiting for Ford to resolve some of the "early production issues", which is taking longer than expected. Even if I get one with a manual transmission and without MFT, I'd like to feel at least a bit more confident than I do now that Ford will be able to fix any other problems it might have, like the clunking front suspension, severe engine hesitation, or a bad steering rack.
No rush for me. While I wait, I have lots of time to look at the pictures here of everyone else's cars and make up my mind what color and options I really need and want, and what modifications I'd be likely to make. In another thread you asked what my "dream Focus" was. The dream is still a work in progress. (It still could end up being a new Civic Si Sedan, instead. [80?])
Ford is not making it easy, though, by putting everything in trim levels and packages rather than a la carte. (Honda is no better.) I'd be willing to pay more for one just the way I want it from the factory and not have to modify it aftermarket. Since that's not a choice, I'm still figuring out what configuration would have the most of what I want, require the fewest and easiest modifications to get the rest, and have the fewest things I do not want. It might even end up making more sense to find a used one in good shape, though that has its own pitfalls. It is really difficult to find a sedan with a manual transmission, new or used.
Looking at all these photos is not helping, either. I thought it would, but it makes me rethink decisions I had already made, like to never own another black car, like this or like this -- but then I see how good some of the pictures here of others' cars look with choices I thought I had eliminated. I'm trying to keep it fairly simple, but I know when you post pictures of your new Platinum White Titanium hatchback, I better not let my wife see them. (That is exactly the way she would want it, like a baby twin of her car.)
I kinda' like the black handles and mirrors to go with the black skirts and wheels. If you do paint the skirts and rear valance, though, then the handles will look better silver. Not sure about the mirrors -- depends on whether you want them to look more upscale (silver) or racecar (black).I think I'm going to paint the handles and the side skirts, still not sure. I love the way this car handles now and I like the simple interior. There are still future mods. Hopefully I can make some more money this year and get a FSWerks race exhaust
I also forgot in my earlier post to compliment your detail work. That silver paint looks like something on a Porsche, BMW, or Mercedes.Sitting low on vmaxx springs now but still settling and fixed my dent and painted my side skirts. [twothumbs]![]()
