WIP SVT New Pics!!!

Ok just before I put the pictures on I have to say something. This is a car that came from an accident about 4 months ago. I didn't have enough money and don't now to basically get what I really want on and in this car. Have to say that some of the parts did not come as my choosing or out of my pocket. The color is cardinal red, first before anyone says anything about the color, duplicolor has different names and for the paint code on my car comes up as cardinal red and second is because this car came from Louisville, KY.

I have the clear side markers on order and I was just thinking of opening them up and coloring them black.

Any links to do this.

I do have fog lights waiting to be installed

Nice car. If you are going to turbo the car, don't mess around trying to wrap your header. Getting that thing in and out can be a pain, especially if you plan on taking it out again to put a turbo in. Just a suggestion.

Well I am not getting turbo anytime soon, but since I used photoshop to see what my engine would look like with the paint scheme, the heat shield was really out of place. Plus my car is getting abnormally hot for some odd reason, no leaks in the thermostat or in any of the radiator hoses.

what i would do is tint those taillight chrome surrounding parts. therefore the red shines up. or cracking them open, and then painting the parts black can work too. its not that bad dude, ur car has came along very nicely and paint seems to match well, IMO

No, it wont. It looks solid but there is very little solid color to the paint. You have to use a Lens Tint paint. Like I said two light coats is perfect.

But if you are worried about it, you can mask off the red part of your lights and paint the rest.

I think masking it would be alot harder then just cracking them open and painting. So I will flip a coin to make my decision. And let you guys know.

Oh this is what I want my valve cover to look like

Got the fog lights right here, all I have to do is splice the harness from my SVT stock foglamps to the ones that came with the new ones.

I am editing this so this can be a link for a HOW TO for FORD RACING APC HATCHBACK TAIL LIGHTS

Image

BEFORE

Image

Take tail lights out and wrap exposed area with plastic or what ever you can find to get dust, dirt, and unwanted guests.

Image

Clean!!! I used simple green, any glass cleaner or degreaser will work, use clothe towel to dry.

Image

Take painters tape and cover the exposed slots for the harnesses.

Image

Preheat over to 220 degrees bake no BROIL on aluminum foil for 8 minutes

Image

Take out with over mits very very hot!!! Work around the edges with a butter knife until loose then pull very gently apart.

Image

Cover the glue adhesive for paint doesn't ruin it.

Image

Paint and clear, I used semi gloss black with a matte clear.

Image

Get some silicone adhesive weather seal and squeeze about a 1/2 inch thick seal around the glue
Put lens on slightly rest on the assembly, and rebake on 220 for another 8 minutes
Take out and put pressure on the lens for about 30 minutes 5 feet away from a A/C vent for rapid and safe seal.
Put some tape around the edges to secure hold longer.

Image

Reinstall and bask in the custom tail lights

^^dont take the camgear cover off. there have been members here that have gotten stray stones bounce between the gears and cause hell. just dont do it. besides, the VCT isnt sexy looking. the cover will look better stayin where its at.
you can have the valve cover powdercoated red and keep the plastics black. besides, if you paint the plastics, im not going to say that they will look good for long. in that heat, paint on plastic will turn to ass eventually. the powdercoat will last forever[thumb]

overall, car is hella-sexy! the tails look fantastic!

that is what I like to hear, the guys over at FOCALJET was basically being over critical like it was their cars, telling me what to do instead of suggestions.
