So lets see em! What else do you drive currently, or have driven in the past?
What does the lineage of a 2012 Focus driver look like??
I am sure no one will bash the other rides right?

Post a pic if you can, as this is your other rides 15 minutes of fame!

I will start it off...

I only have pics of the most recent rides available...

1999 Grand am GT (2002-2006)

96 Bronco (2010-present) No pic with the top off, although it is off from May to October!

The old tempo is the only one I cant get a pic of...they're old school, buried in the basement...somewhere

Now show us yours!

I don't have any pics available, but last car was a 2001 Volvo S70 blue with tan leather interior. It was a great car and still had lots of life in it but we just wanted something new. We've been Volvo owners for years as evidenced in my sig - we bought them all well-used and I did most of the work on the cars because I am good at that kind of thing.

Husband and I share the Focus because we live right next to a major transit station we can take light rail, commuter train etc only steps from our door. So usually one or the other of us takes the train, or we carpool.

My uncle is a volvo guy, he has had about as many in a row as you I think. He calls Volvos

Very Often Loved, Very Old...meaning that you can love them even well used, cause he swears they hold up better than anything else!

They used to, but after they were owned by Ford for years and then sold off to a Chinese company, who knows what the quality will be like now. The hardcore Volvo mechanics/fanatics have been swearing that they don't make them like they used to for years and years, but now it may be really true.

What I do know is that the pre-2000's did hold up and were great deals as used cars, the only car we bought with less than 100k miles already on it was the S40 which had only 52k at the time. However I did put a lot of work into the 1994 850 and the 1998 S70, and that would have been expensive if I couldn't do it myself. Part of the reason I stuck to Volvo is they are (were) really easy to work on and I had all the books and was familiar with them.

The 850 went to 365k miles and blew a valve but probably only because the previous owner let it run low on oil (needed new main seals when I got it) the body and trans were in great shape someone bought the car to rebuild the engine! The S70 we sold with about 175k on it to a neighbor as its still giving them good service. The 2001 S40 I hope will take its new owner at least another 200k, we sold it with just under 100k on the clock and it was very well cared for.

However as a new car, I could almost buy 2 Focuses for the cost of 1 Volvo of similar trim. Without the continued advantages of design, safety and reliability in the Volvos, I just couldn't justify the cost difference and I don't believe in blind brand loyalty. So I decided to give Ford a try - and see what they learned from owning Volvo for a few years (1999-2008) :)

Probably the dedication to utmost safety and reliability that did them in...seems like an automaker these days cant be too good at any one thing unfortunately, its a balance between safety/perfomance/looks/economy...just when I started to like the looks of a volvo they got sold to a chinese company that will probably try to exploit the good name with cheap manufactiring that Volvo almost went under keeping up that name...

But in case the weather is dry and there aren't any salt, winter tires are on.

Working backward from present fleet of three:

2012 Ford Focus Ti++ 5dr <- 2004 Acura TL AT Navi <- 1992 Acura Vigor GS MT <- 1988 Accord LXi 4dr MT <- 1986 Acura Integra LS 5dr MT <- 1976 Buick Century fastback

2009 BMW 135i Coupe <- 1999 Mercedes-Benz SLK230 MT <- 1995 Acura Integra 4dr GS-R MT <- 1992 Civic Si HB <- 1978 Ford Fiesta Sport

2007 Honda CR-V EX 4WD Navi <- 2000 Honda CR-V SE 4WD <- 1986 Isuzu Trooper II LS MT

Still miss both Integras (the first one got sandwiched, thus totalled, and the other ran away from home then showed back up missing all the expensive parts), the Civic Si (it had terrible luck as regard getting hit), and the SLK230. Would have kept the SLK230 but just couldn't afford to collect cars Jay Leno style.

I currently own a 2003 Mazda Miata LS which I LOVE to drive. But my 2012 Focus has heated seats (1st car I've ever owned with heated seats) and even in southern Alabama it's cold enough that my wife wants to ride in the Focus with it's heated leather seats - - rather than ride in the Miata with it's unheated leather seats! AND - driving the Focus is almost as much fun as driving the Miata - - so the Miata sits most of the time now in the garage!

My dad's 2004 Dodge Caravan mainly and occasionally my mother's 2008 Ford Escape or my nan's 2006 Kia Spectra. The Focus will be MY first car. Pretty excited!
