I have been getting a miserable 26/27 mpg here in San Diego. My commuted to work is about 25 miles on the 805 here in San Diego. I would get 27/28 in my 2010 xB. What gives!?!

Its driving habits, most people in SD drive hard (used to live there I know) and inconsistently. I live im Temecula. Area and i get 42 on the highway. 37 combined but if I drive in Town and I usualy don't take it easy at all I normaly get a combined of 31/34

Btw ive got a 5 speed and in my commute I don't have jackrabbit starts and in traffic im in the slow lane and leaving room so im not braking as much

It depends on how you drive it, not to mention it still needs to be broken in. I used to get about that commuting on the 163 and 8 when I first got mine, but then I started driving in a more laid back manner and my mileage went up to the 30s. If you stay below 75 and are not constantly changing lanes to pass people, it will give you better mileage.
I drive mostly stop and go traffic in nyc and see an average between 25-28mpg. When I hit the highway it goes up to 35mpg. My best was cruising 75-80mph to Rhode Island this summer at 38mpg.
Mine got these figures new and ive got that for almost 3300 miles on it now
