Sync Not Working, help needed!

I've only had my 2012 Focus (Sedan) for 2 days and am already having issues with Sync (non MFT).

I had my phone and ipod synced up and everything was working great day 1, unfortunately day 2 when I push the sync button on the wheel, or the phone and aux button on the center channel nothing is happening.

I am not getting the voice to make a command or the phone.aux menus when i select them.

Since I cannot access the menus, I am unable to do a master reset of the Ford Sync, so I tried unplugging the Sync Fuse in the Fuse box. I did this twice and it did not resolve my problem.

Other then taking it to the dealer, is there any way to fix this? Is it possible i screwed up some of my settings somehow or am I already going to have to make a trip to get service?

Thanks,

Norco

Basically, take it to the dealer. If you did goof something up, they'll teach you how to avoid this in the future. BTW, I don't know what I would do without Sync.

Yeah, I'm going to give them a call tomorrow...I even tried unhooking the battery and nothing....

I've also noticed my clock no longer works properly at is stuck on 9:38 PM, even if i try and switch the time it stays at this time.

My guest is something needs to be replaced in the radio console or reconnected.

Congrats on your new Focus, Norco! However, I'm disappointed to hear that you're experiencing concerns. I'd like to see if there's a software update available for your vehicle. Please PM me your VIN so I can do so.

In regards to pulling the SYNC fuse, how long did you leave it out for? We recommend at least 3 minutes.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanjs for the reply,

I only pulled it for about a minute, I'm going to try it again for longer. I will also send you a PM with the VIN, but it only came off the line last month so should be up do date I would think?

I have the problem at least once a month too. Usually ill just turn the car off and cycle the accessory power on a couple of times. That usually seems to do the trick. Its very annoying.

Finally, a solution that worked.

This was the only place where I found a succinct conversation and solution. I read several recommendations elsewhere about disconnecting the battery but thought better of it. However, I did remove the fuse for 15+ minutes after trying that first for about 2 minutes. Nothing helped until I read this post about turning the car on w/o the Sync fuse installed.

It Worked!
Thanks.

My voice command wasn't working neither was my media button. It never recognized anything I pressed the last week. I read this thread about pulling the fuse. I pulled the fuse under the glove box for the sync 2nd column 3rd row pulled for 3 minutes then put the car in on position didn't start it let sit. Turned car off put fuse in, then started the car and everything worked!!! Thanks guys truly needed the help. No software update or battery u unplug.

My Bluetooth works correctly just that if am playing music via it it breaks in between and the only things which is breaking me now if the fact that the USB is not recognizing any device, all it says is no device detected,I've tried the fuse thing but still no resolution. Is there anything am not doing right...? Please help

Mine was kind of quirky and didn't respond to the quick fuse pull. IIRC, I shut off the engine, pulled the fuse, and started the car without the fuse in and let it run for about thirty seconds. Then I shut it off, waited a few minutes, put the fuse back in and restarted the car.

YMMV.

I see there is a new update which I'll have to try but this happened to me recently as well. Lost all functions for voice commands and BT audio does not work (yet phone calls work fine). Will have to try a master reset from the menu. I had back surgery last year and I cannot get to the fuse box easily. My dealer will most likely charge me to have them look at it.

2013 se

I just tried to update Sync, however when completed it wanted USB device inserted and wouldn't let any other function work. I pulled battery cable and let sit for 15 minutes. This allowed the radio, cd and sirius to work but lost all of sync. So I just did the fuse trick, started vehicle for 5 minutes, turned off, replaced fuse and still didn't work. In fact, all the radio presets where still present. I'm going to try a longer time with fuse out and key on prior to calling dealer.

Hi RonD,

Which SYNC system do you have:

How to identify your SYNC version | Official Ford Owner Site

I also want to make sure I understand what happened. You download the update, plugged your USB flash drive into your Focus, and the install completed but gave you the "Insert USB" message, correct?
