Alright, some of this stuff has been posted in other places, but this will be a little easier to follow.

I had some compression/blowby problems with cylinder #1 on my original motor, and since I'm poor right now I had to devise the cheapest way to fix it. I decided to sell the JRSC+BBK, then use that money to buy a good used SVTF short block to swap on. I'm also going to sell my old short block to make more money back.

First, some pics of the car...

When I bought it (Nexo 17's, Kumho ASX 245/45-17)

Cleaned up, BBK & gauges installed, Goodyear Eagle F1 215/45-17 (more allseasons [:(])

Trailered to Charles' farm when I started losing oil from the crankcase vent because of massive blowby (note: remove antenna if towing backwards)

Last picture of the engine bay with JRSC [cheers]

Old motor w/JRSC on it, and temporary motor that puts down 2 SP (sandal-power) [strongman]

Yum, painted. My wife agreed that it is pretty now.

I haven't had time to get back to the farm and install the thing yet, so I've been doing miscellaneous small stuff at my apartment while I wait

New intake manifold, silicone-intakes couplers ($12), ported/beveled to fit 67mm TB

I just handled the 5mm difference (62mm to 67mm) by beveling the plastic on the IM. The bevel is about 3mm all around (so I could use a 68mm TB now lol). It only goes about 1/2" down, and since the TB opening on the SVT DSIM does not widen up inside the manifold, I didn't go any deeper.

This should help airflow quite a bit since it will do away with the awful tumbling that would have occurred with that sharp 2.5mm lip all the way around. The only drawback would be that the plastic surface is not quite as smooth as it was before, which will increase the boundary layer a bit. The reduced tumbling will increase the velocity of air enough to more than make up for that.

tehee, hopefully somewhere near the top of all the NA Foci around... when I get done tuning it w SCT's PRP.

Tragically, Pete (illinipo) will probably be faster in his 192,000 mile wagon. [:(] He's running compression a bit higher than a stock SVT Focus, and I am not modifying the compression ratio on mine.

I guess I could run a standard zetec HG to make a little extra compression, but "meh" I'd rather just have a less finicky car.

how did you get those nexos in 4x108?
those are so sick looking.

man now i have to decide between those and td pr1's

sell me those nexos

i didnt get a pm...

how much do they weigh?

Welp, Pete (illinipo) and I did "prep for install-day day" last night, heheh. Everything went pretty smoothly, despite getting periodically distracted by Charles (focusguy87). We didn't mind though, he was prepping his turbo'd SVTF (forged internals, BB Stg3 T3 Super 60, etc) for the trip to FocusFest 09. Going for WOT runs to check for boost leaks is a pretty sweet distraction, anyways... especially while assembling another SVTF Zetec. Pete has pics of the progress, so I'll post em whenever I get them from him.

Motor is still scheduled to go in on Saturday, and I should finally have the car home on Saturday night or Sunday morning. [woot]
