i just finished replacing the passenger side brake pads and went to the driver side to do those. All the bolts came out except one. I used a mallet, used a torch to get some heat in there..nothing. Eventually the lug nut became stripped. What can i do now to get that damn thing off?

just break it off. new studs are only $2 a piece at autozone. did someone use an impact last time they changed your tires?

stripped or rounded off the outside of the nut? I'm guessing you rounded off the nut, so I would suggest using a dremel to grind two opposite sides of the nut flat so you can get a wrench on there. Make sure you have two very deep solid flat spots before you try loosening, or you'll just round the edges off again. Then spray the hell out of the nut with WD-40 or something similar, let it sit for a few hours, spray it again, then hammer hard on the bolt and try to get it to loosen. Could try having someone hammer on the bolt while you are torquing on it too.

Next time use the proper box-end wrench or the right sized socket...

you can get either a standard socket that's just a little bit smaller, or the next sized metric socket, and whack it on with a sledgehammer. best to use a socket you don't ever plan on getting back. i've had success with impact wrench sockets. you can also try chiseling it off, but you may run a greater risk of messing up the stud.

Yeah, they work most of the time ^^^ I'm not sure if his threads are stripped out and the nut is spinning and won't grap or if the lug nut head is stripped.

the lug nut head is completely rounded off. I dont have a dremel to work the cuts on each side or else i would deff do that. So what i have to do is grind off the stud from behind the rotor and punch it through? Do i need a lift or can i just use stands?

^^ You can do it on stands, its just easier with more room. Try a grabber socket first. That may work. Kinda like the tool penguin posted . It has reverse "teeth" on the inside of the socket and will grap ahold of even a rounded off nut. Let us know how it turns out. You will need a good electric or air grinder to get the back off of the stud as well.

i had one so bad we tried everything......pounding on a smaller socket...dident work....allen dident work....we tried welding a socket to the lug nut would just break the weld....so we drilled it all the way through the stud without a scratch to my rim...
