ok so i found out most places in town have the 3 basic gas octanes, 87 89 93, and it appears that the 89 octane doesnt have any e10 in it, so im now switching to running on 89 instead to improve some gas mileage. anytime i fill up in baraga, which uses no e10 at all, ill get from 38-42mpg consistently on highway, but if i fill up here in green bay and go home ill only see about 35mpg. so im gonna see what happens with in town driving, right now im averaging about 26mpg in town, and my last tank i went 350 miles half highway and half city, so i did alright but would like to see if i can get 300-350 just with in city driving?

anyone have any tips for me on using 89? im prolly gonna reset the ecu and hope thats all i need to do

There is only on place that serves 2 basic octanes in my area.... And that is aboard the Marine Corp Base; Don't ask why cuz I dunt know.

I really don't think you need to reset the ECU to run of 89; but let me know how your experiment turned out okay!

here ethanol is in all the gas. grrr. resetting the ecu probly can't hurt, let us know how it turns out (I'm curious because I wasn't really tracking mpg before and after the ethanol snuck up on me)

42 on the highway!?!?! I'm lucky to see 30mpg, maybe I need to get a focus with a duratec.....

we got e10 in everything i've found here...i know focusin uses 89 because apparently his knocks on 87, i think they just have crappy gas in his area or something...and 40s on the hwy??? i've never even gotten 30...you suck icecream

and you don't need to reset anything with octane change, there are sensors that detect that sort of thing in our cars

^to bad i dontwanna pay 100 octane price lol

and yeah i put in some 89 tonight, so ill see what happens, and the local mobil has a e10 stick on the 87 only, an dmy cousin says they dont use ethanol in the 89 and 93 octane, so cant wait to see what kind of difference its going to make, and ill reset my just to make sure, cuz i dont think i did when i added exhaust

in the gas tank, dump that in?

anyways so far ive gone about 40 miles, and my needle just barely moved, and this is all city driving, and the car itself seems a lot more smooth so so far so good, i like it

tom said the same thing about the timing

as for mpg's you are probably running leaner due to the slower burn of higher octanes which = more mpg's

chris ive been running the 89 the past few months because here by my house its the same price as the 87 and i saw a decent increase in my back and forth millage to work... i mean nothing huge, but another day without filling up is another day

i dropped 93 in my car last week and got 30mpg but i was also beating on it and running the A/C so this week i did the same and we shall see what it gives me in MPGs. good idea on resetting the ECU i might just do that tomarrow

i reset the ecu and went for a spin, and anyone know about kwiktrip gas? its the same price for 87 and 89 everywhere else its 5-9 cents more....

i drive mostly city here in cali on 89 and i average about 280-300 a tank, but of course i have a steady hill incline on my trip daily. also i do notice a dif between 87 89 and 91 :)

yeah, thats the place, ive filled up there a few times, but really dont member my miles i got, but they are right by my house, and dont think they use e10, and the price is the same for 87 89 octane which saves more money and increases miles per dollar

soooooooooo i went to ill up today at the mobil, and now all the pumps have the e10 sticker, sooo ima see if the bp has em or not, and if so, i guess ima use QT gas, as same price for 89
