I need some ideas.

2013 SE - 2.0L DCT (85K)

I just finished replacing the engine (with 11K). The car also needed brakes, so before I could really test the car those needed to be done ASAP. I did those last night and took the car for a test drive. Normal driving everything is fine and runs as it should. When I put the pedal down the car downshifts and goes - then after a second or two I feel a hesitation then the check engine light starts flashing and the car seems to go into a limp mode. I can still accelerate but not normal. After a few more seconds the light stops flashing and the car is back to normal. The issues repeats when I mash on the gas again.

I get P0300 (random multiple misfire), P0301 (cylinder 1 misfire), P0304 (cylinder 4 misfire).

My plan is to replace the spark plugs, swap the coils from the old motor (at least 1 & 4) maybe put some injector cleaner in (or replace the rail/injectors). Double check all vac/EVAP connections, check/re-torque intake manifold.

Any other ideas?

Hi, did you ever find out the solution? I own a 2012 Focus SEL 2.0L, I too have the exact same problem. New plugs, new low pressure fuel pump, switched the coils around, changed the injectors, still misfire on 1 & 4. I’m thinking it has to be a wiring harness issue.

I know this is an old thread, but I just had the same exact problem on a 2012 Ford focus we replace the motor and then after motor replacement we had misfire on cylinder one and cylinder four so I connected my Ford ID scanner and the misfire would happen exactly at 2000 to 2400 RPM consistently on cylinder one and cylinder four. Before I started to do anything and take apart and switch stuff, I decided to do more searching. I saw that there was a misfire relearn inside of Ford IDS and four scan. So I tried it using IDS. I performed in the service functions the misfire relearn and sure enough it fix the problem.
