who has the best prices for motor mounts with good quality. when I get my supercharger instaled Im going to need new ones and to get all three will be like 400 from steeda and thats kinda steep for me.

also what are the inserts that they have on there site could I just put those on a stock motor mount?

is the upper tranny mount the same as the rear mount or tranny mount?

#4 ·
^^^ yes.

check out cfm for about the best pricing around. i have ordered all....5... of mine from them. dont ask on the whole 5 mounts thing...

btw if you didnt know the steeda ones are the same as the vf-engineering one except steeda takes them and polishes them and stamps their logo on there.

yeah i have found that out, most company just sell the vf engineering mounts and i just got off cfm's site and there price is the same as focussport's sale price. lol So the tranny mount should be the first one I should replace?

i have the MAC tranny mount. it cost less than all the other mounts. i figure your just paying for a name. hasnt broke on me yet nor the other foci members that have a MAC tranny mount. you can get it at massive.com

if your ATX i would go with upper tranny. its got 4 bolts and one big bolt in the center that holds down the polyurathane mount. easy as anything to install. and holds tranny stiffer during launches and between shifts.

manual, go for rear Engine mount. helps hold the engine from rocking during launches

you've got that backwards. the one on the top driverside is a motor mount, as is the top one on the passengerside. the rear one is the tranny mount which will do the same thing that you mentioned. i, personally, wouldnt do one motormount without the other one, but having just the tranny mount is fine.

last i checked the one on the top driverside is holding my transmission not the engine.

the lower rear mount is holding the engine

you are right in that aspect, but if you look online to buy one the top two are called motormounts whereas the rear one is the tranny mount.

believe me i know what you are saying.. but do a search here on ff.com for "tranny mount" and i promise you all you will find is posts referring to the rear mount.

i do know what im talking here considering i have all 3 aftermarket mounts on my car. im not trying to call you out on this im just trying to keep the info right so other people who read this who dont know anything wont get too confused.

the only correct info is what i was refering to. Only what your saying will confuse someone.

just because you do a search on FF.com does not make the info correct. A search for tranny mount could only mean that someone had refered to replace the rear engine mount. Therefore does not mean a tranny mount should be confused with engine mount.

It will only confuse the owner when purchasing the selective part at a parts store.

ive already agreed with you that yes technically the driverside mount IS a tranny mount. however if you go looking for aftermarket mount such as the original poster in this thread, more web site will call that a motormount.

now with that being said i will admit i was wrong about the rear aftermarket mounts being referred to as the tranny mount as you can see from the links all three mounts are referred to as motor mounts. however i still stand behind the fact that in most cases on the online forums when someone refers to their tranny mount they are talking about the rear mount.

$400 is right about where I'd expect it to be...the passenger/driver side mounts are ~$150 each and the rear transmission dogbone mount is ~$100.

Are you going to be racing the car beyond autocross or drag? All three mounts make for a very rough ride, they transfer almost all of the engine's vibration into the chassis. You may want to just consider the rear dogbone mount...it eliminates much of the engine movement without making the ride uncomfortable.

not from what ive read. ive read that they have slipped out on people.

That, and the stock mounts are made from cast aluminum...the VF mounts are machined aluminum. Machined is stronger than cast, and with the urethane inserts the mount itself is going to be under more stress since the urethane doesn't absorb as much impact as the rubber in the stock mount.

ok, I have the drivers side/ passenger mounts and the dogbone inserts in the back and I have not had them "slip out". the people how did may have lubed the inserts (which the directions say not to) and thats the problem. And I have never have the stock mount break on me even with hard launches.-Jon

well if you have aftermarket top mounts then the rear mount isnt going to move as much. but i have heard of this happening to several people but personnally dont understand how it happens considering it is a tight fit on both sides of the mounts.
