I just got the MAC lower engine mount and went to install it but I ran into a big problem. I got the 2 bolts loose that were connected to the engine mount itself but the 2 bolts that connect the bracket to the engine/trans are on their real tight. Any suggestion on getting them loose?

I woulda been glad to help.[:D]
But, I'm back home now.
Shoot. We just back from that area. Well, Puget Sound area anyway.

If you can pry the engine/trans far enough forward with a 2X2 or other suitable (non-marring) apparatus,
you may not have to loosen those bolts.

Otherwise, get a bigger wrench.
They shouldn't be that tight, as the torque setting is 35lbs/ft.

Oh they are tight as crap, the bolts that need to be loosened are the ones that you have to use a wrench on or a small socket. The car got the new TSB so I am wondering if they didn't torque them down real tight. The mount would fit in just fine but I need it to be loosened cause the bushing is so thick so it won't squeeze between the bracket without loosening it.

Actually, we started out in Wenatchee for Christmas Eve.
We spent Christmas day at my sister's in Mukilteo, then went to my other sister's in Black Diamond on Sunday.
I'll be updating my "gone for a few days" post shortly with some vacation pics. Clickyhttp://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32831

I'll bet that's what's going on.[?|]
I put my stock mount back on when I went in for the TSB.
When I re-installed the VF mount, those "plate" bolts came out no problem,
so at least my Dealer had torqued them to the proper setting.

Got a pipe to put on the end of a box end wrench?
I wouldn't want to reef on em too hard though, cause that case is aluminum.

You might try heating up around the bolts with a propane torch,
but don't leave it on for too long.
No sense in cooking the tranny fluid.

The other trick is to use dry ice on the bolt heads themselves.
That's worked quite well for me on marine fasteners that were corroded beyond belief.

Mine were tight as heck and my car was brand new - no rust or corrosion. I used a 1/2" drive ratchet with whatever size socket it takes - I should have just gone straight for the breaker bar. 35lbs/ft may be the correct setting, but it could not have possibly been that loose...

Yeah I don't want to break anything, I will try to see if I can't get it a little higher in the air so I can use a bar or something with a little more leverage, cause all I had before was the wrench with another wrench on the end for some leverage. BTW: I was told the mount is covered under warrenty and their should be no problems with it in.

Make sure your car is securely on the jack stands, then put your floor lift under the tranny...just enuogh to cradle it. If you lift too much, it rocks the tranny and messes up the alignment of the bolts.

Take a box end wrench (M13) and use a hammer or 5-pound mallet and give it a few firm taps. That should break it loose. Those two bolts had locktite applied at the factory. The pivot bolt is only about 1 1/2 inch long. The forward bolt is the same size as the two on the mount.

Which also means that when you put them back in, you can't get a torque wrench on them, either. So use some loctite (blue) and tighten them the best you can.

Finnaly got it loose, the trick was what you (WD40) suggested to do. Use the mallet idea. And to also get the car high enough to get a longer wrench on it. I love the new mount so far, along with the Steeda STS, it vibrates like heck at start-up and under 1,000 RPM's and I do notice more engine noise while driving (due to vibration) but for the performance I gained it is well worth the vibration.

LOL, my friend was prying the tranny with a hammer to line up the bolt holes, lol and it slipped and hit himself in the face with the head of the hammer and he blacked out. I could do nothing but laugh. anyways no matter how hard u pull, don't hit ureself in the face w/ a hammer.[bash] [bash]

As much as I'd like to take credit, it was racer1735 that came up with those suggestions.[;)]

BE AWARE. Torque the d*mn bolts to 35lbs. My car was JUST brought into the shop at ford because i evidently overtightened a bolt and the head broke off while driving, so the bolt is stuck in the tranny and Ford has to drill it out and retap it. SO DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE BOLTS. Sorry, im just really pissed because my SVT is in the shop for the weekend and the usual NO RENTAL so word to the wise. Lata.

It says in the instructions to do 35lbs?

Actually, IIRC, the instructions from VF Eng don't list the spec, but.....
I know you read my write up.[;)]
I called the Dealer, and also had someone on FF check a repair manual.
Yep.....35lb/ft.

Yup, I read ur writeup several times a while ago, but did not have the torque wrench so O well u learn. The dealer just called and said my car was ready so Im happy it only took them like 3 hours. Just a word to the wise 35lbs IS NOT MUCH. lol. Thanks guys.
