so when i go to launch do i want to rev my engine? and if so how high do i want to go before i will end up spinning my tires?

you have to find that out for yourself, it depends on how much power you have, your tires, the road you're on, and how good you are at feathering the clutch. it's probably somewhere around 2700 or so. and even if you spin the tires a little that's okay, it's almost impossible to make a hard launch in the focus without spinning the tires.
