does anyone have problems with their keyless entry not working more than 4 ft away? some times it doesnt even work in the car. i find myself pushing the button a 100 time before it'll do something. is there anything i can do about extending the range? this is a problem whether its in a crowded parking lot or the middle of a field. i have not looked at the pcm module or anything just yet. is it possible to strip off a little bit of the antenna, if there is one, and mount it to the body? this has worked on other cars before, but heck, this is ridiculous!

Nope, it even works from inside the house, your battery might be dying out, unless if it fairly new, then have it go checked out by Ford. If it's just the battery, Radio Shack replaces them. Good luck.

I have this problem ALL the time. I can get right next to the car and it won't ever open up, I have to use the dang key on it. WTF? Maybe this is one of those goofy ford things. Or maybe it's because I don't have remote keyless. That could be it too. I'll have to do some digging.

Yeah. We do the chin trick at my work when we can't find a car. Place the remote under your chin and open your mouth and press the button. It looks goofy, but it works.

WT Hell??? are you kidding me??? I said put it Chin level, not "press it with your chin"

So I gather nobody's ever found a way to improve range/reliability of the keyless system.

I bought a couple new fobs from Amazon when mine broke. While I'd really like to find something with a more protected alarm button, everything with a better design there lacked a trunk button. Still have the exact same problem from day one with both new fobs just like the old one, with it sometimes working from 30-50 feet away, and other times needing 10+ presses to work within arm's reach of the car.

I did take a knife to the stupid alarm button and carve it down so it's recessed. That helps a lot, but I'd rather Ford figure out that most people don't even want that idiotic button, (I'm a 5'10" 200lb dude with a black belt. If someone's trying to rape me, an econobox honking isn't going to scare them away.) and even those who might have a use for it don't want the damn thing triggered by a random nickel in their pocket.
