Hi,

I got a Focus S 2012 today and will receive it next week. What really got my attention is the AUX button. I searched for the aux jack(input) and couldn't find it. I have looked inside the armrest and it's not there. Asked the salesman and he had no idea where it is. It crossed my mind that it is not installed in the S model.

It would be stupid to put a AUX button without having the AUX jack installed in the vehicle right!?

We rented an 'S' model and it had an "AUX" button also but no aux jack. I think you called it just about right!

Thanks god it has. It's a great car with some stupid flaws though. Like no windows controller for the back seats and traction control cannot be turned off.
I'm going to check the golvesbox today when I go to the showroom.

Thanks again guys and to BarryL too!

Okay so I have went to the showroom today and checked the car again.

Unfortunatly, it has an empty slot for the AUX jack. It has a USB input though.

Here is a pic:

aux is important to me as any other feature in the car. Is there a way to install the aux ? and it is easy ? costly?

This is exactly what I have inside the Basic model.

I'm not sure if the USB would work without SYNC since I don't have it. or it does?

I looked all over for the AUX jack too - even in the glove box. Possible I missed it but I don't think I would have missed a USB connector.

Do you need SYNC for USB? - a good chance you don't. Other rentals we've had had USB, Nissan/Chevy, and no SYNC. It would suck if it was just a power source though, on the Focus.

You can charge the IPOD without a USB while using AUX. You just need a cigarette lighter/USB adapter (less than $5) for the power source, AUX for the audio.

My most concern is, can I play music from my iPod using USB with no AUX jack? if yes, please link me the right accessory to do it.

I'm skeptical about the USB port. I think it's not working. Although the dealer told me it's working. You never knew if they are correct.

The only way to know is after I receive the car after 16 days from now.

Updated: by the way, I won't hesitate installing the AUX feature if there is a way.

Do they still have the car in the showroom that you took a picture of? You bought a car from them won't they let you hook up your IPOD to relieve the anticipation?

Auxiliary input jack

Some new 2012 and 2013 focus don't have the auxiliary input port
the 6 years old vehicle i drive comes with the jack in the center console,
Ford must be trying to save money I don't know the reason, some cars don't have the USB

Back to the reason of my post, last month I help my friend solve the
problem by adding and aux adapter to the vehicle, this only works if you don't have Sirius satellite, but you must have the Sirius button this is the part
we install in the 2012 Focus Ford-can aux

My auxiliary jack is in the top left side of the inside of the glove compartment. Very inconvenient, but I solved it by buying a 6 foot cable with a narrow jack on each end at Wal*Mart for $6.00. This allows me to have my device on my person, or others in the car to utilize my device.

I would much rather have the USB than the aux because with the usb, not only does your device charge while using it, I believe you would be able to control your device with the buttons on your steering wheel too.

Traction control can be turned off. I wouldn't recommend it, but you will improve your gas mileage if you do....... Open your manual or........ Looking at the big ok button on the left side of your steering wheel. I think it's left arrow, down down down arrow, then ok ok ok.....try it, but go slowly. You don't want to change something else.
