hey guys, as some of you have seen in my pics... i installed some single LEDs in my cupholders about a month ago. well ive had several requests on getting a "how to" on doing them. Here it is!!!

Items you will need: 2 LEDs (I bought Prewired from Ebay because i am lazy)
Razor knife
Roughly about 5 Ft of wire (Red and Black)
A basic switch (I used a Streetglow Music Interface for this How-To)
Wire Strippers
Hot Glue Gun
Power drill and drill bit (1/4 inch)
Electrical tape (dont buy the cheap stuff, get 3M)
Zip ties (wire management)

First things first, remove the rubber cupholders from the car
Cut a small hole in the bottom of each cupholder (just big enough to fit the LED in snuggly.

once LED is in the cupholder, apply Hot Glue to the bottom of the cupholder to secure the LED into place. Allow 10-15 mins for glue to harden.

while the glue is hardening, take the power drill with the 1/4inch bit and widen the hole in the bottom of the acutally console cupholder (this allows for wires to be run through the bottom for better installation) It may be easier to loosen up the center console for more wiggle room[wiggle]

run the wired from the LEDs down through the holes. arrange wires under the console over to the driver side of it

attach both LEDs together (red to red black to black) and add the extra wire to them also.

Electrical tape them up and run the wire from that point under the driver side dash to your switch.

Voila! You now have yourself LIT UP cup holders.

I did not do the switch portion of this mod because my switch was already there from my underglow and my previous lighting mods. If you have any ???s feel free to ask. also, i am not perfect by anymeans... Feel free to add on or suggest better ways of doing this. Thx for playing along guys and have fun!

acutally no. with the hole drilled into the bottom of the actually console, u can pull the wires tight enough to keed the holder down. and dont put a mountian of glue on there either

i never listed it... but the project should take no more than 2 hours even if you do not have an existing switch... i re-did mine for the HOW TO in 45 mins. not difficult at all

hey guys one other thing... if you do decide to install these, i would do them to a different switch than your other interiors (unless u wanna drive around with water bottles in the cupholders all the time like me lmao)

I have to second this no matter what tape you use I would feel better knowing that an actual connector is holding my wires together over tape. I don't want to see my car go up in flames and I have done a ton of wiring while I was overseas and here at home again.

ive actually had 3m tape on some of my interiors now going on the life of the car. (2 yrs) and all is fine. if u get expensive tape and its not subject to weather or movement, it should be fine. unless u have it by the air vents and run the heat, then that could be a problem. but thx for the input. no mod is ever perfect

i personally would recommend taking out the center console and putting the LED's on the wall of the cup holders so when you are driving, the light wont be shinning straight up, specially if its going to be a bright color... other than that, this is a good mod just would recommend setting it up the way they have it from the factory in the flex.
