Your toe is a bit off then, the only proper way to have this fixed is a wheel alignment, its not that easy without, your front wheels a pointing to much outwards at the front ( guess both tyres are the same?)..You could try to turn each endlink one turn, but you will not have a proper way of measuring whats correct..
adjust steering links, but it involves tons of measuring, and the 60-100 bucks is way easier than the headache of trying to do it, and even when you do it yourself, it still proboly wont be perfect.
If the toe is off, that's something you can probably easily fix.
If the camber is off, that can also cause inside tire wear (and in my experience, most front drivers wear the inside front from camber, not toe). That you might have to bring it to an alignment shop.
Camber can be affected by bad ball joints, control arm bushings, worn struts/springs, etc.
Then I'm sorry to say, but your experience isn't correct.
There are many many cars running around with 2, even 3+, degrees of negative camber and with the correct toe settings no adverse tire wear shows up.
How do I know? Because I'm one of them. I drove across the country and back with almost 3 degrees of negative camber on my front wheels/tires and never had an issue because the toe was correct.
You are correct in that bad joints and connection points will allow slop in the front end, and that will adversely affect performance and tire wear. But toe settings are astronomically more important to even wear than camber.
