My 2002 Ford Focus SE 2.0 liter 8 valve is hesitating/shaking a little while cruising at highway speed. I have also noticed a little at lower speeds like coming into a town though. The car has 248,000 miles on it. It starts and idles well. It isn't burning oil, and it has the original clutch in it that doesn't appear to be slipping. It does have a standing yellow warning light though. Last year the yellow light came in and I had it checked out and it was the EGR valve. I had it replaced and then occasionally the light would come on again and it would come up the code as the EGR. The car ran fine, so I just got to the point where I just ignored the light because it continued to run fine and I had just replaced the EGR. So maybe it is the actually just this new EGR valve causing this problem. I can have the car on cruise at say 75 mph and you can feel the car sort of shake, just a little, sort of feels like the car is missing just a bit. The car continues to maintain highway speed. The car doesn't slow down. It's not a hard shake, but just enough to know it's there. I have noticed if I push in the clutch taking the load off of the engine it stops. Anyone's idea's would be helpful. My friend I carpool with said that I could try plugging the line that goes to the EGR and if it stops the problem then it is the EGR.
