there are buttons on the inside of the mounts, depress them while pulling up on the headrest.

I tried depressing the buttons, all that did was set the height at different positions. I'm removing them so I can see better backing up.

 

Are you remotely serious? This is one of those joke threads right? The Focus has like no blind spots. Unless your like 4'5" tall, the headrest will save you from serious back and neck injury or possibly death from a rear end collision. Leave them in, and try turning your head when your backing up. It's a safety issue.

It is actually illegat to remove them. you can be ticketed just as you could for having no seatbelt on.

 

i understand wanting to see better when changing lanes, i find the blind spot over the left shoulder is really bad...but for backing up? just turn around!

btw, ztecpower, sorry about your loss. thats really hard.

 

Thanks for the condolences guys, I appreciate it, But The safety issues involved in removing the headrests frighten me. Taking them off is like not wearing a seatbelt. Or Disableing an Airbag, These systems were installed with YOU in mind, To protect Human life !

Me too, I need to get the front headrest off - installing new seat cover on my 2000 focus wagon. As Rockfish said depressing the button simply raises the headrest. Any advice apart from using a hacksaw?

 

it's simple theres a little tinny button on the head rest ( not the one you use to put it back donw) push it in and pull up.

 

can anyone remove the cloth from them if so pm
