Anyone know the cost of exterior door handle not opening door problem?

Well, I know the door panel has to come off and it either needs a new latch, rod or springs. I'm hoping I can get a back yard mechanic to do it since I've read that to do it yourself would only cost $50 whereas a shop mechanic would charge between $250-$300. Also, I live in Esto, Florida. (Estonia is a typo.)

These have a forked lever on the latch "reinforcement plate" (handle mech) that tends to break if the latch gets sticky/stiff - most common issue.

Search in this section for latch issues and there are even some pictures to find on it.

I'd be surprised if the labour would be over two hours. I replaced the rear passenger handle (not that I use it, but I didn't want water getting down inside the door, and the duct tape didn't look great), and I think it took me about an hour total.

If you're a handy type, check out some YouTube videos for a how-to. It's not a complicated repair, and you'll save some $$$.

Call your local Ford dealer and ask what the book time is on it, and you'll have a better idea of what you'd have to spend based on what your mechanic's hourly rate is.
