Wow, people of FocusSalvage did a v6 or was a v8 conversion but they where not any of this full sized v engines... these are not meant to be frontwheel driven.

 

well the 302 will fir in our engine bay... BUT, u ahve to make it rwd... as long as you have the time and money go for it... OK-Focus did it with a 351 and a 302 is smaller so I dont see why it wouldnt fit...

they make a complete bolt in kits with everything from the engine bay mount to the rear axle, of course it is pricey....im saving up for this to do to my 01 zx3

I added up the "4.6L & 5.0L MODULAR ENGINE CONVERSION" and came up with $7530. Plus the engine & install. Anyone know about how many hours would go into that?

 

well i heard alone a v6 countour convertion took guys about 40 hours

but this is much different....i mean u need to relocate your fuel tank on the back and ect.....this is gonna be ALOT OF WORK

but if i had all that i'd still do it.....

the v8 swap comes to about 24000 is what someone told me who did it.

 

the whp on the contour motor was around 260whp to the front I believe... somewhere in there...

 

it should come to around 10k if you do it yourself.

 

[][][][]in 26 large doesn't worth it....unless ur loaded and retired....
for that money i can buy a nicely built mustang already

if you wanna buy one, I think the guys from OK-Focus are still trying to sell the zx351... it has a 351 winsor with a C4 race tranny and an 8.8" rear with focus bolt pattern... it's pushin +420whp! they were wanting $16k last time I checked... you should check it out! the guy selling it is on here... let me go find his user name...

 

welll here you go... there is a thread and all... he said he would sell it for $10k as a roller minus engine/tranny... so basically, all you would need is a motor and tranny cause all Krugel Komponents parts are there... anyways here is the thread!

i say its better to buy that Focus thats for sale....

 

if you went to a wrecking yard you may find a 302 or 351 for a fairly good price, along with a trans, and maybe even a rear end. the cost of rebuilding everything could be the same as buying a new crate engine. you could spend the rest on the other part of the conversation.

you just have to think of ways to cut costs on a project like this.

 

yeah stay away from the svt contour 2.5, i have three freinds that hve that same motor! it's mazda all the way two of my freinds have the svt contour and both are blown and they never did any thing too the car's and my other freind has a probe that had a 2.5 in it (well 3 of them) blew all of the motors then built one and put a turbo on it and blew it in three months!!!

 

iirc the 302 and the 351 fit fine u just need to either fab up or buy the engine mounts/supports...and i also seem to remember that a trans am rear axle fits perfectly...i wanna 6.?? but i dont remember exactly

its been a while since i was on, but if mr. squatch is still here shoot him a pm...i know he put in a 351 and said that it was VERRRRY tight since it was a bigger engine than the 302

oh, and if u salvage as much as possible then it should come out to around 8-12k...again depending on how much u can salvage/fab/find cheap
