Correct class?

I have read through most of the FAQ's and the links on how to identify your class off common questions. The one link http://www.odr-scca.org/DIY-classing.htm indicates that :

Engine
"Made Any Internal Engine Modifications?" & "Installed Larger Throttle Body?"

I have the Focus-Central 65mm TB and also have built my motor for a turbo so have eagle rods and 9.0:1 JE pistons. I am not turbo at the moment.

So this would automatically put me at "SP" right?

I am having the head worked and will be getting Crower springs but on stock cams and gears for the moment. but looks like once I go with larger cams I will be kicked to "SM"

Being "SP" would also mean i could run EGR off, and the off road CAT delete pipe right? I want to get into Autocross with SCCA next year since my car will be up and running.

Trying to figure out where I stand. I am trying to go through the rule book also to figure it out but any hand would be helpful.

Nope, no SP for you, straight to Street Mod FWD (SMF). The good thing is its a pretty open field in SMF as in any of the mods you have mentioned are perfectly legal there.

What pushes it to SMF? I am only page 33 into 346 of the latest rules.

Thanks!

Compression change is not SP legal.

Page 104

R. Cylinders may be rebored to no more than 0.0472” (1.12mm) over
standard bore and the appropriate standard oversize piston may be
substituted. This overbore dimension is an absolute limit; no additional
tolerance is permitted to accommodate wear. Cast or forged,
non-stock pistons of the same dimensions and configuration as original
equipment pistons may be used. Additionally the replacement
pistons must be of the same weight or greater as the original equipment
pistons. Replacement pistons must match OE piston configuration
exactly including quench area.
The allowance for the use of
aftermarket forgings vs. OE castings does not permit alternate piston
dome designs. This allowance does not permit alternative ring configurations.

Thanks. So SMF it is. Was not sure on the pistons, NASA TT classes dictates from my reading of there rules it only assigns points if the compression is increased from stock or if the motor work increases the displacement by 2% or more. But SCCA is different so thanks for pointing that out!

Looks like since I am also getting tubular control arms that SMF (16.E, pg 110) allows for that also. I could not find anything in any other section that applied to aftermarket control arms.

Looks like minimum weight is 1810lbs + 125 per liter so in the focus its 2.0L., so the lightest it could be is 2060lbs. Once I go turbo I add 1.0L to the displacement and then i have to "add" another 125 lbs for 2185lbs.

Thanks for the input. Any idea how a Focus will do in the SMF class?

Suspension I think is about maxed out. next step would be coil overs.

Have Koni Sport (yellow) shocks w/ their springs, about to place and order for C-F-M tubular control arms, LCR camber plates, full ply motor mounts, Eibach front and rear sway bars, Focus-Sport front and rear tower braces. Will have rear camber bolts for Christmas.

Not directy suspension but also have SVT brakes front and rear w/ stainless steel lines.

The weight may be the tricky bit because I am keeping it as a daily drive where i may or may not use the rear seats and such.

The first season I am just going to have fun learn my lines and improve technique. I have no delusions of even placing in the top 5 or 10 unless there are fewer then that many cars in this class.

Eventually I want to gut the car and put a roll bar and race seat in it, but that's when I have the $$ to buy another car.

Thanks for all the help!

about to place and order for C-F-M tubular control arms, LCR camber plates,
Why are you getting both? The arms will give you all the camber you could want.

Eibach front and rear sway bars,
I'd shoot for the larger Steeda 28.6 rear bar with the stock front bar to start with. Right now I am running NO front bar but have pretty stiff springs (380f/400r) Still is too pushy

Focus-Sport front and rear tower braces.
I'd save your money. It's just added weight IMHO.

Not directy suspension but also have SVT brakes front and rear w/ stainless steel lines.
You have added unnecessary weight here. The stockers would do just fine and be lighter.

Thanks for the input. SVT brakes dont think I have added any weight... if any thing reduced weight. the rear calipers and rotor are a whole lot lighter than the dum assembly. There is also less rotating mass with a rotor vs the drum.

Swaybars, previous owners and installed
Tower braces, previous owners and installed
already have camber plates from 5 years ago, so already installed

I am sure I will start playing around with the suspension as I get out there but right now I think I am at a good starting point

I know for a fact there are design differences. I needed new bushings a few months back and had to give CFM measurements so they could know which version I have
