Converting A 2014 Focus Titanium To A 2015-18 Titanium

Well guys and gals. I have decided that i'm going to convert my 2014 Ford Focus Titanium to the face lifted 2015-2018 model year so that i can have all the goody options. [:0] I bought my car last year thinking the 2014 was the face lift year and that it had more options that can be added to it. Well i should have done my research before i bought it cause the person that told me the 14 was the turn over year was wrong. So instead of just selling my 2014 and loosing a ton of money on it, i made the big decision that i will just make a 2015 out of my car. 100% with no 2014 parts in it at all. I have about completed getting everything needed to start my project. I have the engine computer, with the engine bay wiring harness, dash wiring harness, complete inside wiring harness from the dash to the rear hatch, i have the front bumper, head lights, and hood for the front, i have the other rear bumper cover that has no holes for the parking assist sensors because i will need to install 4 sensors instead of the 3 my car has now. So i will be drilling out the holes in the front and rear bumpers to mount the new sensors. All the wiring i bought is for the tech pak and the complete parking assist options as well as the rain sensing system too. I bought an ABS module, Body Control Module, Sync 3 with Nav module, RFA module, Imaging processing module, Climate control module, instrument cluster, that will have my current mileage on it, front interface module, audio control module, complete console out of a 2017 Titanium, both front door wiring harnesses and the door modules that go with them, key less entry keypad for the door, sunroof motor module, over head console complete with ambient light module, both front door panels, both front seats and the parking aid module for the full park assist feature. And a few other odds and ends. I need the blind spot monitoring modules for both sides and the mirrors yet and front heated windshield for the lane keeping assist. I also got the heated steering wheel with paddle shifters on it and the steering angle sensor module and the turn signal lever that has the power switch to activate the lane keeping with cross traffic alert system as well as the auto wiper system lever.

So i will keep you guys in the loop as i get ready to fire up the car once everything is installed and ready to go. Now once i get ready to start the car, i will have to download the as built data from a vin car that has all these options so i can upload and program all modules to run together just as in the donor cars the parts came out of. Most all used stuff i bought came from 2015 and 2016 cars for the exception of the center console. That was out of a 2017. Now keep in mind when i told the Ford service guy that i was doing this at my local dealer he says there is no way that is going to work. Well, i personally don't see how not. Everything is going to be from 2015-2017 cars. All the parts work together in those cars, so why not my car. the only thing that will be 2014 will just be the rolling chassis. That's it. Well and the motor and trans will be in it. Those are the same as the 2015 so nothing has to change there. So i will prove to the Ford guy after i'm all done and driving the car that it can and will be done.[headbang]

So if you guys have any questions for me if you want to attempt to make your car better than the one you have now or just add any options to your current setup, just ask me i can help. I guess you can say i'm certified in Ford wiring and there systems.[:)]

This project is insane, but I admire that. You certainly learned all about your car in the process. [thumb]

The accountants among us fretting about the value of your time must also assign a (large) positive value to the knowledge you have attained. And for the fun you seem to be having. (The other stuff you do sounds like more fun to me, though.)

Thanks Arco. Yeah, it is coming along pretty good. Since i got the car back from the paint shop, i have just about installed all the 2016 stuff in the car. As of today, i just have to install the dash, console and the front seats and it is all done. For the exception of the front and rear bumpers, rocker panels and hood. It goes back to the body shop once i am done so he can install the bumpers and hood. So far all my electronics work like they should. I open the doors and the lights come on, the blue interior lights on the cluster and other switches i have hooked up light up. Also all my outside lights come on when i open the doors. Even the light up key pad on the drivers pillar lights up. :-D So some time this week i will have my key guy come out to my house so he can program my keys to start the car. That will be a great feeling to hear the car start up once again. I will take some pics in the next couple of days of the car and post them up.

Thank you guys for your kind words. skiboarder119, I don't blame you for feeling that way. I have heard from several people that they think i'm scamming people over this. But why would i do that? It takes so much of my time and effort to make something up like this. Besides, i have only showed you guys several pics of my car being done, but i have an album of many pictures from beginning to now with photo's of me doing this project. Also one way you can tell it's for real is look at my vin number. You can see that the vin shows it a 2014 and the state referee marks it as a 2015 for smog purposes. So there is no way i could have made this up. :)

LOL, does Ford not think scrap yards exist? Like why would you steal multiple cars just to jack the modules?

I work for a Ford dealership and I love the brand, but sometimes the logic of some processes and the reasons they almost seem to invent is like.....whaaaaaat?!?[emoji23]

Anyways, I hope you get it all sorted. I'm looking forward to hearing about the finished project.

Hey Tom, thanks for the hit up. No i have not hit up Mike. I'm not to sure if i've seen his post. I would love to talk to him. Do you have a contact number for him? I still have your tune that i paid about a year ago lol. i will use it in something here pretty soon.
See post #4 in this thread.

CORRECTION:
See post #4 in your other thread. (Two threads on the same subject. No wonder Tom and I got confused about where we had seen the post from RDC.)

Hey Arco, thanks for you positive input. You living in California know what i'm talking about. The auto laws out here are crazy. My last 2 Focus's that i upgraded a few years back had a different PCM with the VIN programmed in of the year i was upgrading them to and i just went to the state referee and told him what and why i did the upgrade to and he just made sure all was legal and hooked up right for the year i was upgraded to and put a sticker in the door telling who ever smogged it in the fure to ude the specs on the sticker. no problem.

15 Titanium

Maybe you should change your username?

I'm not superstitious -- being superstitious brings bad luck -- but maybe the universe just wants it to stay a "14 Titanium" to be consistent.

I'd say that the car might want that, too, but inanimate objects don't like to have human characteristics attributed to them. That reminds me, you have not given your car a name, have you? Especially not a female name, I hope. That could explain it being so difficult. ;)

Ha Ha. That is very true and funny. I don't normally have names for my cars. Never did. But yeah the name change to a 15 Titanium will have to be done as soon as i get the car going. i am getting a couple newer key fobs once i get home from my vacation on the 15th and give them to the guy working on my car and see if he can get them to talk to the RFA module and get this thing going. I love the fact that Ford is bringing the 2020 Focus to the US at the end of this year. I may buy one depending on price. I was losing interest in my Focus, but once i got to my dad's back east for the past month i have been driving a 2019 Escape Titanium from the car rental place and it's just like my Focus inside. Well it got me more motivated now to get my car going again.

Well everyone, i'm sure you guys are all just pacing the floor waiting to hear about and see my finished project of making my 2014 into a 2016 Titanium with the tech pak and all options and new color scheme from Silver to Performance Blue L1 code. Well i wish i can say it was finished to this day but unfortunately it is not. :-( But it's very close now. The car as you guys know has been at the auto electric shop going on around 8 months now. They have been trying to program the car to start so then they can upload all 2016 as built data into the car so all will work the way it's supposed to. But they have failed at attempting to get that done. I honestly personally don't believe they are even trying to make it happen as much as they led me to believe. I have caught the guy in a few lies when talking to him about it. So i have decided to just pull the car out and try a different approach. With the help of Mike here on the forum who has done one of these conversions sorta directed me to tow the car to Ford and just tell them i need a PATS reset with 2 new keys i have. They should be able to do that with there equipment. I was told not to say anything to Ford about my conversion. Just have them do the PATS reset so the car will start and run. Then i can upload all the as-built data to the rest of the modules later to get them all working. Then i should be done if all goes well. So i have not given up yet. Although i will be honest i have about gave up on it and just parted the car out or sold the whole car to someone as a roller. But my family, friends, forum guys like you, and Mike pumped me up to keep going. Heck i'm about 90% done with it. So i will let you know what happens when i get it over to Ford in the next coming week or two.
