Hey im wondering if any one knows of another 8 inch sub that will fit in the stock location of a 05 ZX5 that will hit harder? i have been thinking about putting a 10 inch Solibarix (excuse my spelling lol) but im afraid i would have to put a seprate box in my car. i meen if i cut a square whole in my old factory box i dont think it would sound right. any ways any info would be appreciated.

nah that wouldn't sound right AT ALL.....the stock box is made for that type of subwoofer so most aftermarket subwoofers will not sound right in that small plastic container.....whats wrong with getting a new sub and amp?? i just did that and sold my sub/amp combo for more than my new setup cost....

i put a mtx 8" sub in the stock box. i had to but it on the outside, facing in, because it didnt fit inside the box. Its sounds just a lil better, but not worth doing. i just did it because i had an extra 8" sub. best thing to do is get another box and amp.

I completely disagree with the "it wont sound right at all". I have replaced mine with a JLAudio 10W1 and it sounds alot better than the stock 8 did. If you want pics and how it was done, PM me and ill get you some tomorrow. Actually, i had replaced it originally with a JLAudio 8W0 and it sounded better than the stock one, just wanted some better low end, so i went with the 10 and the stock enclosure is big enough for the 10 in cubic inches". I would like to know if the 05' is the same as the Audiophile as in my SVT, i think it is.

well i thought about getting a diffrent amp and a box and sub but my only worry is voiding hte warrenty. my only other worry is the wires lol....if i take the old amp out is there a diagram for witch wire is power and wich is what... i mean i can make a box to custem fit the back of my car i have done it many other times for other vehicles but all of them have been old lol this one is brand new so im just afraid of messing it up.i would much rather have a 12 in the back..also exactly how big is the stock amp? if it is 500 watt it should be good for now...i could always just run the speaker wires to the new box and sub.

Let me know what you guys think i would appreciate the feed back.

Use the stock amp, im useing it and it sounds great. The Ford amp is stable at 1/2 an ohm. Heres a few pics of the 10...

Man thats alot of work. Nice "how-to" though. If you look closely at the pic of mine that shows the sub and enclosure, on each side of the top mount you;ll notice there are two blocks that were cut to conform to the indentations that are there if you just try to seta 10 on the bow. We cut those and sealed them off with butel tape ribbon and made a 1/2" spacer ring and that was all we needed to do to install the JL 10. Im pretty sure the JL isnt as big as that sub you installed though. Either way, they both are a really clean install. I didnt have to cut the box at all and can return to stock pretty easily. But i like the way that Punch fits. Nice work "svtmonkey"

I just noticed :monkey" that your enclosure is flat faced? You didnt need to make those "fill" pieces like i did. I wonder when they changed the design of that box.

Or you could do like I did. Its a bit of an improvement over the other two, as its a profesionaly built box. No offense guys! But I took my stuff over to a local shop and told em how I wanted it and this is what became. They used the stock box room and everything, just added in new everything else. They created a new box to house the bigger sub and put the new amp under the passenger seat. It sounds AMAZING!

Im sure it does, but you could also get the JLAudio Stealth enclosure that doesnt stick out as far. Looks really nice though. The only draw back to an enclosure like that is weight. That box is heavy I'd bet. The whole audiophile system in an svt only weighs appx 35lbs. I bet that one hits pretty hard though.

Hits very hard yea, and does weigh quite a bit. Solid wood structure and all. I did love the audiophile though. I had been looking at the JL stealth box and thats the design we went from. I just needed a bit more than the box could provide and the guy making it is a close freind so I got it for quite cheaper than I could have purchased a new JL box and all. Its great to have freinds!

b16sir1991 Hey could you send me some pics of your set up. thanks

There are a few in this thread that i added earlier. If you want me to send them to your email, send me your email.

t_bone, are you saying I'm not a professional [;)]. lol. I would really recommend using the stock enclosure. I am so happy with mine, it pounds!! And it was a really easy job (less than 1 hour).

b16sir1991, ya I'm not sure when they changed that box either, there was one guy on that thread that had the same problem. It's too bad cause it makes the box a lot smaller.

well what i think im going to do is just run the wires from teh stock sub to a new box and a 12 in the back. Im going to build a custum box to fit in the back up against the seat and only take up a little less than 1/2 the space and throw my old 12 in there. for now it should be good. ill problubly put in a sealed box then carpet it grey to match my car.

I have an 06 ST, with the Audiophile system. What I did was an 8" MTX sub, and replaced the stock amp, and it sounds bitchin'. It's not neccessarily the sub, the stock sub sounds much better and has a greater punch when used with an aftermarket amp. And you should use a shop to do the work, they'll replace anything that's not working correctly if you ask nicely, lol. Good Luck
