Canister purge valve recall clarification

I was hoping to get some clarification on this recall, i've tried reading a bunch of threads but i'm still not 100% certain. Is the canister purge valve the same as the EVAP purge valve that is located by the air filter box under the hood? I replaced that myself last year when people were talking about deformed gas tanks but no one ever called it a canister purge valve. Has the part changed again in the last year? I only ask because my car stalled and died on me last week when my gas tank got under 1/4 tank but since I replaced my EVAP purge valve last year, i thought i was okay.

Also, does anyone know the part number of the new valve? This is mine.

Take it in for the recall and tell them that your gas gauge is reading incorrectly and has stalled before at 1/4 tank , you will 100% get a new canister purge valve and new programming for the PCM for sure.

and if the tank is sucked upwards more than 1 inch from the steel straps , you will get a new tank and fuel pump also

Well I would prefer to not go to the dealer if I don't have to. What I really want to do is if the evap Purge valve located under the hood near the air box is the part in question for the recall? If so, what's the new part number? I've replaced this part once before and it's easy, I'll do it again if it's a new part number.

Is that what causes the stalling? I looked under the car and there is no gaps between the tank and brace as far as I can tell.

Also, what is this part in relation to all of this?

Where is that located? Do you by chance know the part number?

Is it computer controlled? I thought the sensor was just there to tell the computer if it's not working, not to actually make it function.

I have to replace the rear sway bar this weekend so I'll be able to really see the fuel tank and if there is any deformation.

I don't think so.

Great info guys, Jburks, the PCm reprogram is important I think because if your purge valve fails, at least it should throw a code right away, right now you may not know until it actually does damage to fuel tank, etc and then eventually throws a few codes which by that time, it might be too late to avoid damaged emissions parts and tank.
