What do all of the different options on the wheels mean? I see a lot of wheels with fitment options like 4x100 or 5x114, and then there will be something that says 42 mm.

It's probably a really dumb question, but can someone explain what all these things mean and what I would need to fit a wheel onto a focus?

the "4x100" is the bolt pattern. In this particular case its 4 lugs 100mm across. The focus has a 4x108 bolt pattern. If you find a wheel with anything different it won't work. The 42mm is probably refering to the backspacing. For more info on that try google.

I'll also add you'll want to look at wheels in the 42+ mm offset range. I think cutoff is somewhere mid 50's but you usually won't find many aftermarket wheels like that. Many will be 40mm which will work but if you're lowered at all you will likely have problems rubbing unless you use a small tire. I find 42mm works perfectly for me with about a 1" drop and another common size is 45mm which is a little added security if you're dropped a good amount.

I've checked tirerack, the ones I liked weren't available for my area, there's a couple others on there I like, but I have a feeling they may not be available either. I'll check out discounttiredirect.

4x108 isn't a very popular bolt pattern. Its pretty hard to find wheels that will fit. If I remember correctly any wheels that fit the 3rd gen mustang (79-93) with fit the focus too. Of course I may be mistaken. Someone correct me if I am.

I see a lot of sites that when I select my vehicle, it will give me wheels with a 4x100 bolt pattern, would that also fit? Because that comes up a lot more often than 4x108, even when I select a focus as my vehicle.

4x100 will not fit without modification. There's a new kit from one of the site vendors to convert but it's a lot of work and $$$. Just keep an eye out for 4x108.

well.....as I just noticed today, you could get yourself some Yamaha electric golf cart wheels [rofl] they're 4x108 and about a foot in diameter, if that [hihi]
