hey i have a 03 svt focus with a kn sri. I dont have the money for a s/c or a turbo, but what are the best mods with the best performance gains for the money? Any advice? thanks

first advice - use the search button, secondly, what type of budget do you have?
exhaust is debatable on if is gets worthwhile HP gains, although a high flow cat or off road pipe will get good gains. people will reccomend a better coil pack (i'm not one of them) or a throttle body (doesnt really give any HP, just better throttle response)

Tom's tune (1turbofocus) is quite possibly THE BEST money you can spend on your focus.

Two great FREE mods are the shift counterweight removal....

and the clutch position sensor disable....

both free and completely reversable if you don't like it.
Best of luck and [welcome] to FF

Yeah he'll sell you a flasher with his tune on it, and you just plug it in and load it up.

Well the SVT motor stock is pretty much at its limits NA as far as boltons go, off road pipe or hiflo cat will help, tune....that's about all that is worth the money.

Now if you want to start saving up for a super or turbocharger...no one here will tell you not to :D

Well I bought the Steeda one before the CFM one came out, but the Steeda one isn't insanely low but it still makes the shifts much shorter, but yeah do some research.

Also I'd suggest that you don't get an intake or exhaust, neither gives much power and isn't really worth the cost (says the guy who has a Pipercross Viper).
Instead of buying a larger TB port yours, their are instructions on this site on how to do it.

Definitely tune, rear motor mount and STS. Other than tires, these are the only real upgrades that I've done to my car, and I have been thoroughly impressed with each.

CMF 67mm throttle body would help wake your car a little, not a real HP gain (1-2hp) but gas pedal will have a great response.....
Do all your mod's u planningg and then call Tom that u need a tune so he can put all that stuff u have on your car there.....or you can have hist tune first...he will send you updates as long as you stay NA

You don't gain a lot, but you get far better driveability.

I'll go out on a limb here as someone who has done basically every standard mod you could want to do to a focus. And not to break your bubble but aside from FI, you WILL NOT be getting much more power out of that car.

If I had to start stock again:
-New copper plugs gapped around 0.06, taylor wires
-Vent the crank and valve cover to atmosphere
-Drop in filter
-MAYBE a HFC if it was on sale or a used one was availible.
-Toms tune.

My engine would be DONE right there. The SVT has to be one of the worst HP/$ cars to mod outside of going FI. The intake is perfectly sufficient, as is the exhaust. UDP's and all that other jazz are a complete utter waste.

If you want a better driving experience with the car:
-Counterweight removal
-STS
-Suspension work. An eibach pro kit will get you there for any DD setup. Fine tune with a slightly larger rear sway if desired.
