I'd imagine that's strictly a dealer item.

They make it such a pain to shove the axle back in that I've been so tempted to leave them off. I don't quite have the courage to do it though. I wonder what would happen...

 

i changed the pass. side axle and there isnt a ring ( on the US models anyway). i heard that they cost like $20 or something. i forgot who told me that tho.

 

Just as I suspected! I'll bet that ring isn't even necessary. That might be an assembly aid- so the axles don't fall out at the plant or something.

Maybe somebody who knows for sure will come forward with the information.

 

The passenger side is different it is secured by the bearing that is bolted to the block...the drivers side doesn't have that. I wouldn't put it together without a good spring clip.

 

thats true about the axle shaft bearing. it kinda holds the intermediate shaft from moving.

 

Why worry, just stop by the dealer and get one..,

damn thats a lot of money for a tiny little clip like that!

 

I bought some little clips to hold the lower grille in, they were $6 each. Then I turned around and got both brake cable assy's from the same dealer and that only cost $60 for both. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason.
